I refuse to DM 3/3.5 past 7th level. How about you?

I've DMed 3rd Edition up to 30th level before, and never had a problem. My current group is in the 6-7 range and I'm looking forward to seeing them rise much higher. Part of the trick to high levels is definitely having the characters rise through all the levels on the way. This lets you...

    How to clean a toilet

This is hilarious, especially the source at the end. Great pictures, too!

Do you reequire your players to think?

In my case, I'm well aware of that. I just ignore it. The very first houserule I made when 3E first came out was that Int increases change skill points retroactively. :) As for the poll, I voted yes, but not because I expect players to recalculate skill points if their intellingences change...

This week's Screaming Halibut features Celebrity Dungeons and Dragons, as well as Dungeon Master's Corner and several other non-D&D but equally funny skits. Have a listen! Michael.

So many people with ZERO postcount.

I was a member at Eric Noah's old site. I never posted. I moved over here, and it was ages before I posted anything, but I had an account. Why? I fully intended to post. However, either I never got round to it, or by the time I did, other people had already said anything I had to say. Yes, I...

Treasure - how do you give it out?

I generally just decide myself what to give an encounter. Sometimes, I'll roll, but I'll then adjust the results if I don't like them. I can't imagine ever letting the players roll after the fact. Likewise, I would never roll myself after the fact, either. The possibility of something coming up...

You are the head of a major network: Firefly vs the new Battlestar Galactica

I've encountered a number of different opinions regarding the new Doctor Who, but I don't think I've encountered anyone else who dislikes it quite that much. Oh well. As you say, different strokes. Cheers! :)

You are the head of a major network: Firefly vs the new Battlestar Galactica

Without hesitation, my vote goes to Firefly. An utterly brilliant series lost before its time. Serenity is the only movie this year I've been looking forward to seeing. As for Battlestar, I've never understood the praise it gets. I just don't like it. The acting is very good, but even the best...

TSR Example from the worst TSR adventure module(s) ever published

I didn't even notice the stat blocks (mainly because I didn't really pay attention to them). What I did notice though is that it says Evan can be awakened as per the rules for the sleep spell. Slapping him should be enough to wake him up. So, why couldn't the nymph figure that out? Did she not...

    Remember the old Greyhawk Gazetteers?

There were definitely some good things in the Karameikos boxed set, and I think some Mystara fans are too quick to dismiss the entire thing. However, there were some poor areas, too. The updating of the timeline was not done well. Some areas were moved forward, but other things (notably NPC...

Admit it. Who else did this?

I was first introduced to the game by someone who was also quite new to it at the time. He didn't understand how levels worked, so we just rolled a d6 to determine our characters' levels. Regardless of what was rolled, though, it made no difference because the "higher" level characters didn't...

    What is the best-rolling die?

The best die for spinning is definitely the d30. With a good twist and some open space free of obstructions, my d30 will keep spinning for about a minute. It's a shame I never actually get to roll a d30 for anything. I also really like d12's. They're fun, though I can't really say why.

I have a new podcasting show that's now up on-line. Screaming Halibut is a 10-minute sketch comedy programme. It's very funny. Have a listen! There will be new episodes every Monday. Screaming Halibut Michael.

    On Maturity

No, it was Tom Baker's first story, "Robot". Sarah and the Doctor have been arguing a bit and she tells the Doctor that he's acting childish. The Doctor responds with, "Of course I'm acting childish! What's the point in being grown up if you can't act childish once in a while?" There are some...

Rate B2: Keep on the Borderlands

I voted 7, although I actually meant to vote 8. Not sure how I managed that. Oh well. Keep on the Borderlands is a great beginner module offering a great location in which to adventure. The only thing I think it lacks is detail of the NPCs at the Keep. This is something a good DM can easily add...

WOTC ad - insulting to gamers?
