D&D 5E Potential Monsters in Quests from the Infinite Staircase Adventures

UK4: When a Star Falls (June 1984) Of all the adventures appearing in Quests from the Infinite Staircase, there are the fewest new monsters in When a Star Falls. Only two creatures had full monster entries: the maschin-i-bozorg and the memory web. All of the other monsters appearing in When a...

D&D 5E Where Does The Multiversal Vecna: Eve of Ruin Visit?

In that case, it was indeed a retrofit. The random encounter table for the Dargaard Keep cemetery in DL16: World of Krynn lists werebears, wereboars, wererats, weretigers and werewolves as potential encounters.

D&D 5E Potential Monsters in Quests from the Infinite Staircase Adventures

Since the adventures contained in Quests from the Infinite Staircase have been revealed, I thought it might be fun to take a look at the monsters appearing in the original adventures and speculate about what new fifth edition monsters we might see in the upcoming anthology. For each adventure...

D&D 5E Where Does The Multiversal Vecna: Eve of Ruin Visit?

Tales of the Lance, World Book of Krynn, p2: "On the other hand, some stock fantasy creatures do not appear—lycanthropes, orcs, half-orcs, and halflings." Then again DL16: World of Krynn, which predates TotL by three and a half years, has a banshee with a ring of protection from lycanthropes as...

    D&D 5E Intelligence Ratings

Not in stat blocks. On rare occasions, one of the other abilities (usually Strength) is mentioned is the description if it seems relevant for a particular monster. Looking at the second edition Monstrous Manual as an example: The talking owl is given a Wisdom of 21. The aerial servant has a...

D&D 2E A bunch of 2e PDFs seem to have bumped up in price

Yes, DMsGuild transferred the title across to the current rights holder once alerted to the fact that it doesn't belong to WotC.

D&D 2E A bunch of 2e PDFs seem to have bumped up in price

Ah, that's true. WotC doesn't generally put up stuff for sale on the DMsGuild that they don't own the rights to. A few notable exceptions are Palace of the Vampire Queen, the first 50-odd issues of Polyhedron and the Paizo-era issues of Dragon/Dungeon. All of those were released as WotC PDFs on...

D&D 2E A bunch of 2e PDFs seem to have bumped up in price

That's not true! WotC do not own (all) the rights to, at least: The 1st edition Conan and Red Sonja D&D products. The 1st/2nd edition Lankhmar D&D products. The 2nd/3rd edition Diablo II D&D products. The 3rd edition Kingdoms of Kalamar D&D products. The 3rd edition Warcraft D&D book. The 5th...

D&D 5E So what's the scoop on D&D in PDF Format?

I think you might be conflating two vaporware products: A planned print Forgotten Realms encyclopedia and a planned CD containing out of print products.

D&D 5E So what's the scoop on D&D in PDF Format?

Jim Butler started the ESD project while he was still as WotC, then left and formed Bastion Press and entered into an agreement with WotC to continue the scanning. I think that the first PDFs went on sale in 2001. According to an early snapshot of the Bastion Press website, ESDs could initially...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

I didn't think it was rude! I was vaguely amused that @Reynard thought I was replying, but I am deeply sympathetic to anyone who is caffeine deficient :D

D&D General Official Lego Set for Dungeons & Dragons Coming Soon

Wait, are we still talking about Lego or are we now discussing the special cover versions of D&D books? Because I sure wish I had a few copies of the alternative cover Volo's stashed somewhere! Footnote for anyone reading this in the future: That link went to an Ebay auction for the special...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

I agree with you that that's an option, but WotC has shown only limited interest in updating older products for stand-alone releases. Curse of Strahd is a definite exception, but I'm not convinced Tomb of Annihilation counts. It's certainly inspired by Tomb of Horrors but it is hardly an update...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

I think part of this is page length of the source material. Red Hand of Doom is 128 pages. A lot of 1e adventures were 32 pages. That means you can put four revised 1e adventures or one 3e adventure in an anthology.

The page to claim the download is there, but is seemingly not linked to from anywhere useful (except the external Lego site, which is where I found it).

WotC How to I find my claimed content on dndbeyond?

This is one of the features that seems to be only available via the D&D Beyond app. If you install that, you'll see "All", "Downloaded", and "Owned" filters for your library. I realize that doesn't help with navigating the website, of course. Edit: Ninjaed by @MNblockhead !

D&D General The abandoned core monsters of D&D

Those two examples, specifically, were new-to-core in 4e, but not new to 4e, so those inclusions still meet the "win back lapsed fans" goal for 5e.

D&D General The abandoned core monsters of D&D

Speaking as someone living in a part of Africa with a high density of them, I can confirm that there are indeed spitting cobras here. The giant spitting cobra occurs farther north, here we tend to get a lot of Mozambique spitting cobras. We've evicted eight of them from the house so far this...
