I play Half-elves for character concept ps ... no, I really don't have anything to add to this thread other than a reason for playing half-elves ... I'm more concerned about the 'cool' (to me) factor than the stats/abilities factor.

the elven mage watches the fighter smash into the door a couple of times ... the fighter gets kinda winded and sore. The mage studies the door for a moment and notices the fighter has weakened the hinges and caused some splintering ... wit the right amount of leverage and force he could should...

lol, 20th lvl orc ... good analogy. I'd guess you'd play him like a dragon that knows you're coming ... I would also assume that on his home plane he wouldn't be alone and the EL would be significantly higher too ...

SKR (iirc) had a good reccomendation way back in the beginning of 3.0. allow metamagicked spells to be taken as a regular spell. for example, magic missle is a 1st level spell ... taking the metamagic feat: still spell would allow a sorceror to use still spell with any of his spells. OR that...

the Black Company CS uses something like that too ...

ok, i guess those penalties are a bit harsh ... and then people start mix/match the armor ... oh well worth a shot.

how about they just give a bonus to AC vs crits? +1 for light armor helms +2 for medium +3 for heavy ... the ACP of the armor counts against spot/listen checks (MW half-plate helms would give a -6 to listen and spot)

you could always assume that any creature is relatively immune or adapted to it's environment for purposes of dmg and what not. The cold breath from the winter wolves would still affect it (or you could house rule that it only does half dmg)

can we get some basics of the scro? are they higher hd and abilities like the originals? ... how close are they to the 2e scro? or how different are they from orcs?

what about the beast men from GHA? ... don't have the book here but iirc they were non-magic using and furry all over.

it's not the weight they're concerned about it's the percentage body fat ;) I think you should have a small gym with a wrestling matt ... where they all hum "Eye of the Dragon" (spoof survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger') while a match is going on. ... and a boxing ring too!!! Just go to a Gold's...
