D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

and yet he defends the GM that was doing it... and tells me what I should have done... witch for the record was quite the game long before this... while he calls out '20 quastions' he also has his PCs try and fail at actions instead of just informing them... 'recall lore' is great...

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

there is uncertainty no one knows how well in game the NPC does until he tries... you can describe and say all you want all that does is show how good or bad a orator you are (based on what you say you are quite skilled) how ever that is just you telling a story. Your NPC can be good or bad get...

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

but you do hide mechanics... the NPC has an intimidate check but you don't want to tell the PC that you want to describe him trying to intimidate and hope they under stand.. and the deadlands game doesn't have actions to break spells, so no it never accrued to me to do something the system is...

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

the problem is that you are using arguments he used to use... he would phrase it differently but your whole "Don't ask questions just declair actions" mentality was his too. And he ALWAYs 'described the envoirment and what the npc did" You may not WANT to be like him, but I am yet to see a...

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

yes he was pervy and creepy but also hiding info. I hate hiding what you want. It's like "Hey here is this description, but don't you dare question me" is one of the quickest ways to rip me out of a game... if he didn't hide every skill and every spell and every power behind description it...

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

this reminds me of one of my worst RP situations ever. I was playing in a deadlands game and it wasn't going great, but not horrid. then came the Vampire... it was game 4 or 5, and he had the same 'no questions' rule... so he told the table "I pour on my supernatural charms and entrence...

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

I think like everything else in this thread it depends on the table... If I'm playing at the right table I might say "man we make a great team" but at a different table call the guy out as a cheater...there are many ways to play this game and if you are only playing one way you do yourself a...

D&D 5E Do Fighters Still Suck?

but in this case you can... you can have the champion fighter at the same table as an eldritch knight and a battlemaster, and there is no reason we can't make a Warblade subclass that has 6 levels of special abilities you can pick 2 every 3 levels (starting at 3) and give them special attacks...

D&D 5E Do Fighters Still Suck?

combat and tactics introduced Weapon mastery (3rd weapon prof) weapon high master (4th weapon slot) and Grand mastery (5th weapon slot) between them they gave more attacks better initiative higher die of damage and a +2/+1 that stacked with weapon specialization.

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

wow this exploded while I was gone. I think we can all agree there are a lot of ways to play and it seems like different parts of our hobby all have different ways to think of the rules...

D&D 5E 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

I can't believe how this has taken such an ugly turn. No, that's a lie, I guess I knew it would.

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

When I DM (not often) I let both players and monsters to use skills, but that last one the quest giver doesn't sit right with me... I will say as a player I would except any of them... I mean again that last one is the most questionable, but If the DM did it I would roll with it since he wanted...

D&D 5E 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

I will say I have never fit in with most people. I have my own still unresolved issues, but I wish back when I opened up my first book back in the late 90's it had something like that in it... I think the inclusiveness is perfect.
