    Bristol UK

Hi, I'm looking for a group in the Bristol UK area... Don't really mind what is being played, but in an ideal world DnD 3.5 would be my preferred choice.

    Where to start watching Torchwood?

Unless you are a serious Who fan, then I really wouldn't bother with Torchwood at all. It doesn't really get any better. I would have stopped watching it, but the g/f likes it. But then she is Welsh and is biased :) That said the last episode of the last series was ok...

Terry Pratchetts - The Colour of Magic [2008]

It was ok, and seemed to follow the books pretty well, but it was definately a bit hit and miss. Certain elements looked absolutely great - like Ahnk Morpork and the tower of art. Death was once again totally cool. However a lot of it just cheap; the luggage was a bit rubbish (it didn't seem at...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Another good storyhour is The Age of Worms - Morrus' campaign. It's was a little hard going at the start, but it really hit it's stride quickly and as far as I'm concerned, is really engrossing. Plus Eccles updates fairly frequently! :D

Funniest Rod of Wonder story..... ever.

You'd be better off with a bat familiar....

    Terry Pratchett's Hogfather

It looked stunning - they really managed to capture the entire feel of the Discworld. Susan, Death and Albert were all spot on. I'd always imagined Ridcully being a bit more energetic and flamboyant though. And the whole university dining room was a bit small. But Hex was great! I have to say...

The Night Below - your experiences?

Of all the campaigns I've ever played in, I have the fondest regards for this one. Our group really loved this adventure. We almost completed it too, but got TPK 'ed in the second to last room thanks to the illegal use of a goat. (dodgy tactics and rubbish dice rolling might also have had...

Robin Hood 1x01 "Will You Tolerate This?"

I enjoyed it too. Some of the editing was a little dodgy, and the sword flinging was a little silly (ok, very silly) but on the whole it was pretty entertaining. I recently bought the Robin of Sherwood first series. I remember it being great... But sadly it hasn't withstood the test of improved...

    Silmarillion - worth reading?

I really love the Silmarillion, but I have to say that the first time I read it, the first 5 chapters were really hard to get through. Tolkein is a great writer, but he does like all of his elven names to begin with the letter "F" which makes it a little confusing at times.

    Wayfarer's Redemption

The second trilogy wasn't as good as the first. And I agree with your assesment of the first trilogy!

    Dice Questions?

Firstly I am agog at the wonderousness of your collection! Secondly - what is the highest number of faces on a die that you have come across? I have the obligatory d100, but somehow I'd imagine that there must be some more impressive ones out there...

FLGS List for London & England

There is indeed a Travelling Man in Bristol - it has a fair selection of OOP stuff, mostly 1st and 2nd Ed. There is also a (new and improved) Forbidden Planet at the top of the hill from there, which has a fairly wide selection of the new D20 products, but no interesting OOP stuff that I've noticed.

The only feat that I've heard of that does something even vaguely like that is the Initiate of Mystra feat.

    The Best Novels?

Well there was the sequel "Kaz the Minotaur". Come to think of it, that was pretty good too.

Is There Much Age Difference In Your RPGing Group?

No. Our age ranges is 31 - 33. Although in a few years time we'll probably get the kids joining in, in which case there will be a 30-year age gap!

    Druid gear and wildshaping

There don't seem to be any rules for that, but I would say that the weight of melded equipment is effectively gone. After all if you wild shape into a small bird, you don't remain the same weight as you would as a human, otherwise you'd never be able to fly.
