    D&D 5E The Essence of D&D

As far as I know there are no editions of D&D which don't support your awesome story. :D

D&D 5E Interesting talk with Mike Mearls (a few secrets slip too!)

I'm definitely glad that they've realized that the "D&D Book-Of-The-Month-Club" was a bad idea. I hope their efforts to use other products to monetize the game pan out.

This is my new all-time favorite monster book (13th Age Bestiary)

I agree! We need play reports from Tun Kai Poh!

    D&D 5E The Essence of D&D

D&D has existed for forty years now. FORTY YEARS! I wasn't even a gleam in my daddy's eye in 1974, and I'm in my thirties. There have now been numerous revisions to the game (let's face it - a lot more than five), at least one per decade. And of course, this is a game that's notorious for being...

This is my new all-time favorite monster book (13th Age Bestiary)

WHAAAAAT. I want to play in your game!!! The book doesn't tell you who worked on what monsters*. On the one hand I want to know, but on the other hand it helps make the book feel more consistent. I knew Piratecat was involved in working on this book, but did not know he wrote the redcap entry...

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

So you're the guy whose Shadowrun campaign wiped out the Dodos??

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

If you know of another way to play Russian Roulette, I'd love to hear it! Attendance at our Tuesday night game is getting thin.

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

Yes!!! Again with the satanic rituals! Why are people so obsessed with making blood sacrifices to the dark prince Lucifer? Can't people just practice Wicca or something?!?* At any rate, I realized that I left a couple of examples off the original list of badwrongfun: Your killer DM is an...

So You're Just Not "Feeling It" for 5e - What ARE you excited about?

What's the story on 'The Strange'? I keep hearing about it but have no idea what it is.

Hey, this list is by no means comprehensive! Feel free to tack on your own.

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

I have been hanging out on various gaming forums for a while now, and I constantly see people writing that you shouldn't judge them for their preferred play-style. "It's my table," they say, "I can play what I want!" Killer DM who punishes their players for not asking for searches on each...

D&D 5E Wait, what IS the point of Acrobatics?

Sure, but we have to abstract somewhat. This isn't a gymnastics simulation. And besides, leveling a jumping skill to epic levels makes sense in a way. Some superheroes fly - but some just jump a really long ways!

D&D 5E Wait, what IS the point of Acrobatics?

I'm usually in favor of fewer skills rather than more, but here's an idea: Athletics should be split in two, one skill for feats of upper body strength, one skill for lower. Specifically, I think running and jumping should maybe be in their own skill. Someone who is great at running is not...

D&D 5E Wait, what IS the point of Acrobatics?

Part of the problem with Athletics and Acrobatics as skills is the difference doesn't seem very intuitive. Okay, so jumping is supposed to be an athletic check. That means it relies on strength. So... strong people are automatically really good jumpers? By this logic, Arnold Schwarznegger...

D&D 5E Wait, what IS the point of Acrobatics?

4e had the same problem, really. Even though a couple of Acrobatics-specific use cases were described, in practice it was not obvious what actions should be Athletics and what should be Acrobatics. I defaulted to letting players use whichever was highest for them unless the check was OBVIOUSLY...

This is my new all-time favorite monster book (13th Age Bestiary)

Thanks! I almost forgot one of my favorite things, though: the book's tiny humorous touches. My favorite is this one from a list of possible Drow names: Tyyler Du’Urden.
