    My Review of 13th Age

Here a link to the Eldritch Knight class: http://www.pelgranepress.com/?p=11922 Like I said, I like the foundation and the Sigil mechanic in general but I think it needs some tweaking.

    My Review of 13th Age

13 True Ways will have the Monk, Druid, Battle Captain, Necromancer, Occultist, Chaos Shaman. You mentioned "Warlock". Did you mean "Occultist"? Or was there a name change somewhere that I missed? :) Also, there is a Fighter/Mage "gish" class on the Pelgrane site called the Eldritch Knight. It...

    Are we fair to WotC?

Tome of Battle is, in my personal opinion, the single best product to ever come out of the 3e era. Even Paizo has yet to release a Pathfinder book that rivals my love for this product. :)

    D&D 4E System for 4e monster conversion?

13th Age has rules for monster creation and customization. It should be pretty straightforward to look at the 4e monsters, divide the level by 3 to get an approximate 13th Age level, then adjust by size or status. For large or elite monsters, add a level. For huge or bigger, or solos, add two...

    My Review of 13th Age

The PDF comes out in September. They wanted to give FLGS a chance to get the physical book in stock before the PDF hits the street. Plus if the retailer is a partner, or if you order from Pelgrane, I believe you get the PDF when you order the physical book.

    My Review of 13th Age

The problem with "Jack of All Trades" isn't that its somehow broken, because it really isn't. Its that its BORING! Its also technically more of a trait, than a "background" per se. As a GM, you should ask your player how they would have come to know a bit about everything. What did they do...

Kickstarter Top Ten Tabletop Game Kickstarters: Why So Successful?

Its value. The two I backed on that list, Reaper, and Myth were so successful because they provided a base buy-in that became a better deal by throwing in more and more stuff as goals were met. I'm far more reluctant to support Kickstarters that are expensive to start, and whose stretch goals...

    Zeitgeist, 13th Age, and Icons

Absolutely. They can represent organizations or institutions as much as individuals. In some cases both.

    My 13th Age Report

My personal take is that 13th Age fufills the promise of easy DM prep that 4e only half delivered on. While 4e took away the burden of building monsters as PCs, and having to look up abilities in different books, it came with a different sort of burden to me in terms of building tactical...

Exclusive 13TH AGE BESTIARY Preview: The Redcap!

Love it! Good stuff, Piratecat! I've never used a redcap in a game before. They've always struck me as sort of "meh" fairy tale monster whose flavor and threat level has never been backed up by their mechanics. Until now, that is. Can't wait to throw one of these nasty buggers against my 13th...

    My 13th Age Report

I think the icons are easy to not use, or tweak to better fit your style, if you don't like how they work by default. I agree with you that a DM who has everything tightly plotted probably doesn't need an icon roll to shake things up. But the mechanic can be set aside in cases like that without...

    Non-Linear Wound System

Right. M&M 2e is basically a point buy version of True20 which is class and level based. I really wish that GR would release a True20 2nd Edition that incorporates the changes made in M&M 3e... :)

    Non-Linear Wound System

You can do these sorts of wounds in True20. I think there is an optional instant death rule where if you fail your death save by 20 or 25, you die. So depending on the damage DC of the attack, and your Toughness save bonus, once you take a certain number of hits, any hit beyond that could...

What ideas from 13th Age are people using for dnd?

I'm really excited about your setting, Dave, and have already backed it! I've been a big fan of the Sasquatch team's prior design work. Tome of Battle is one of my favorite D&D books of all time. I love the multi-system support approach, and doing a 13th Age version has me super excited. 13th...

    20 years of playing D&D

Nice! I'm going on 27 years myself. Started in the late 80's with 1e AD&D as a youngster, and have stayed with it ever since. :)

What ideas from 13th Age are people using for dnd?

Another thing, I'll note. If you really like using grids, you could easily use a grid if you wanted, and if you like minis, they are certainly useful for designating who is engaged with who and general position. But none of these are required in 13th Age. The rules are so simple and intuitive...

What ideas from 13th Age are people using for dnd?

I don't know if you ever played old school AD&D theater of the mind, but the 13th Age rules are just a slightly more structured way of how I used to play AD&D. Essentially, most positioning is abstract and based on how the DM describes the scene and how the players describe where their PCs are...

Tell me about STAR WARS: EDGE OF EMPIRE

Are there plans to include a starship combat system that more mirrors the space battles we saw at the end of episode 4 and 6? I don't want something super fiddly. NO MINIS. It should be narrative, but it would be neat if players had more to do beyond rolling to hit and damage every round. I'd...

10 Most Anticipated RPGs of 2013

There are probably better people suited to this than me, but in a nutshell its the alternate universe version of D&D Next. I mean the game is co-designed by Jonathan Tweet (who designed 3e with Monte Cook), and by Rob Heinsoo (who was a key 4e designer), both distinguished WotC alumni. Its also...
