Do Intelligence items effect skill points

The way I've seen it argued that makes the most sense to me is: 1) If you use the item for most of the level (GM discretion) then you get the extra skill points when you advance. 2) You don't get any retroactive points when you put on the item. 3) Points gained through an item are permenent...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3E converted adventures

It could also be that the monsters have been bumped up in 3E. I've noticed the most mid and high level monsters are quite a bit tougher then their 1E and 2E brothers. I think this was done with all the best intentions as the PC's are much tougher then they were in 2E (Rogues and Priests BAB...

Need help reducing campaign's magic intensity

Give less XP and play at low levels. Rather then trying to rebalance the game by taking away powers, play at low levels. Give out 1/4 or 1/8 the recomended XP for an encounter. This will slow down the progression of characters and allow you to keep that low magic feel to the campaign. It...

Everything I Ever Learned About DMing I Learned From Comic Books

Great Post! I agree that B5 has lots to offer to GM's. Like you, I found the weaving of short, mid and long term stories very compelling and very instructive to me as a GM. One source that definitly influenced me was the Seven Samuri. Kirasowa (SP) does a great job laying out the village...

    Two halfspears...

There isn't much difference between a standard action and a partial action. On page 127 it defines partial action as: "As a general rule, you can do as much with a partial action as you could with a standard action minus a move. Thus you can attack once as a partial action or move your...

    Flaming Sphere questions

I would think of it, well, like flame. It has a defined shape and can be moved, but has no force or substance. If it attacks the square a player is standing in, it envelops the player. The player can move freely through it, but must take damage from it (like the wall of fire). JMTC

    1 Sneak Attack per Round?

So what if you can use throwing daggers. You can't flank someone with ranged weapons, thus negating this as a viable tactic for most rogues.

    1 Sneak Attack per Round?

But that wouldn't be your style. A SKILLS CHARACTER?!?!?! Are you kidding. Yes, they do get the best skill points, but when did that equate to being broken if they can do anything else besides use skills? Sneak attack is a skill based attack. Most of the time I see it used, it involves...
