    It's Dark Sun

That's not what I meant to imply at all; I should have phrased it more clearly. If he doesn't want the setting to change, as it's in a state that he likes, and is in that state in a fashion that is playable for a game (or game version) that he enjoys, why would it matter for his...

    It's Dark Sun

You know that nothing will ever take away the Dark Sun you love, right? They can publish a book making the Tablelands a lesser-known suburb of Waterdeep, and you don't need to care. If you have a setting that you love, just ignore anything that comes after that you don't. You don't need to pin...

Half-Orc Spiked Chain Fighter - anything I'm missing?

If you're going after maximum reach, both goliaths and minotaurs have racial paragon paths that eventually and permanently increase their reach by 1 square. The goliath path also has an encounter power that grants threatening reach until end of next turn. For maximum control, if your heart isn't...

So you find a portal to a game-verse - where do you go and what do you bring?

I can bring as many people as I want? Any setting but Star Trek, I'm bringing the US Marine Corps, a few survivalists with experience in improvising weaponry, a team of cartographers, a large farm's worth of agricultural managers/laborers, and enough people to crew a modest fleet of ships. I...

    I have Adventure Vault 2

Hey, another teleport-expander. That warlock utility granting a one-square teleport is rapidly becoming the best movement option available, at least by late paragon tier.

What game system have you tried that made you go WOW!

Dread, with its Jenga-based resolution system and its "13 questions" character creation. I'm not sure you could convince me there's a better, more atmospheric horror mechanic than the Jenga tower Dread uses. It's not the fresh new darling anymore, but Dogs in the Vineyard continues to impress...

    Three's a Crowd

Before my game inflated to six players and a sporadic guest appearance by a seventh, it began as a three-player game (with a mostly-optimal two-trident elf ranger, a very-suboptimal human inspiring warlord, and a generally-optimal human shielding swordmage). I began by building encounters for...

Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

You seem to be speaking from a perspective of the books describing an objectively existing world, and decrying changes to that, which is a more than slightly absurd position to take regarding gaming materials.

    Immediate Interrupt Question

Immediate INTERRUPTS happen before the trigger resolves, and thus can preempt the event they are interrupting. Immediate RESPONSES happen immediately after the triggering event resolves completely, and thus cannot affect said event.

    Ranger - archer AND swordsman?

We have a two-trident (soon to be two-tratnyr) ranger in my game, and he works excellently. Thrown weapons are very much the way to do this, I feel. My game's ranger's player has expressed a commitment to the Avalanche Hurler paragon path, to up his damage dice, but he really does murder his way...

    Whence the displacer beast?

If you're really curious, PM Old Geezer on rpg.net, since he, you know, played in Gary's group as the game was being formed (and is responsible for, I believe, the existence of the half-elf).

    D&D 3E/3.5 Consultations re 3.5 --> 4E Druid/Wizard Conversion?

What sort of natural philosopher? If he's pre-Enlightenment, I'm going to suggest a warden with Ritual Caster and a pile of rituals, instead of focusing on any arcane multiclassing. The prerequisite is easy to hit with backgrounds, or, if they're not being used, forget what I said earlier and...

Strange, cheap dice at Five Below

Danvers, eh? As I'm living in Salem, this sounds like a place I should check out.

I really don't like the Compendium links in articles.

Isn't one of the selling points for DDI that once you download the PDFs, you have the content forever? This isn't a bait & switch, but it's very much a bait & disappoint.

Can the Revenant ability "Unnatural Vitality" be used to transfer the death effect?

My gut reaction--equivalent to a ruling-at-table, subject to revision upon later consideration--is that it'd work so long as you refrain from spending the healing surge, and instead simply become stable.

Can the Revenant ability "Unnatural Vitality" be used to transfer the death effect?

It's not the save that ends the condition; any healing ends it. The save of 20 just allows you to spend a healing surge. It's splitting hairs, but in this case, it's hairs that need it.

How do you tie someone up!?

Tell the DM "I'm going to cut 10 or so feet off of the 50 I'm carrying, and tie that guy up".

Stargate- was there ever a RPG?

I'd strongly recommend Spirit of the Century or Primetime Adventures. (In fact, I'd recommend PTA or some variant on FATE3 for every modern sci-fi program I can think of offhand.)
