    Balphagor and his good intentions

I'm using the encylopedia arcane construct book for their design. I'll post the stat block this weekend (I do not have it with me at work). These little critters cost more then it would to make magic items that do the same thing, but a simple magic item wouldn't love me like my constructs do.

    Getting Rid of Level Drain

Harrumph! I like LV drains - used very sparingly. I imagine a PC's life as a linear thread (plastic), the level drain is the equivalent of a flame striking the center, causing it to curl up but not break, unless to much flame is applied. That period of your life that was hit with the 'flame'...

The Dreaded Odd-Numbered Ability Score Bonus

The best way to dodge the possible problem is during character creation. Require race selection be done before rolling stats, have stats rolled in order. This does not work with point buy for stats.

    Balphagor and his good intentions

There there, Mother Roach. I know it hurts. Some people fear love. It isn't you, its them. You are artwork, my masterpiece [gives her a kiss]. People will learn, soon you will have brothers and sisters to spread the good word, to help the world pull back the lid and gaze on your truth. Oh...

    Balphagor and his good intentions

Surely you would not deny Mother Roach her one desire, to see her master's friends and allies healed, to provide succor to those in need? Come, let her rub her sweet face against your hand, feel the warmth she feels for all living things. You do not want to hurt her feelings, do you?

    Balphagor and his good intentions

My necromancer Balphagor made with this construct with the aid of a priest, with, of course, the intent to help his fellows... Mother Roach - the size of a cat, this irregular shaped cockroach lets out mewling cat/baby sounds and is very friendly, liking to rub against others for attention. The...

1 spell per level for domains?

In the book Quintessential Cleric, they propose alternate versions of domains - for example, the death domain has 3 variations, say 'lay to rest', 'dying and nature', and 'necromantic death magics' (I do not have the book on me, this is just an attempt to describe the 'flavor'). It still limits...

Looking for an home brewed artificer class...

Hmmm. That was not my experience, but milage may vary. The way it was run for us, the clockwork mage's work was figured out of game, submitted inbetween sessions. If the mage had a design that already worked and was accepted, it was x days and y cash to make if he & his allies wanted to wait...

Looking for an home brewed artificer class...

Check out the (2nd edition) complete Shi'ars handbook - the clockwork mage may be your solution! Fairly balanced - and the mechanics can be pretty much directly translated over to 3.5 w/ little or no effort. Also, not much of a decker effect, one would think. Good stuff - and since it's 2nd...

    Channeling

Yep! I know a bunch were made for the priest splat book, and I seem to recall some home mades & also some from dragon, but for the life of me I can not seem to recall them. Hmmmmm...

    Channeling

I'm looking for help - what uses have been made for channeling? I know turn undead, but the priest splat book added more, as well as some in dragon. Anyone remember a particular use? Thanks!

    Channeling options

I'm looking for uses for channeling other then against the undead. Any good ideas?

    Spellcasting Time

Speed kills I am working on something similar – for flavor I would like spells to take longer then a few seconds to whip off, but I can not afford to cripple the class, or none would play it. My decision was to go for spell failure – casting a spell always requires a skill roll. Failure...

    Arcanist

DanMcS: Hmmm. You and I both are thinking the same thing. I too have proposed a new class, also named the Arcanist, here on enworld http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=69712 Part of my frustration was with the lack of progress the classes show (either) after 5th - why not switch...

Heretic Apostate: why 5 LP at 1st? So you are a native speaker (3 LP) and a moderate reader/writer (2 LP). You only get 3 LP per SP or INT bonus - so you are likely to be a LP 2 speaker and LP 1 reader - or the reverse for the scholarly. Folks who spend 1 SP for it when it is a cross class...

    Healing Without a Cleric....

Ahh - but in a low magic world, these clerics are less common, and so are the potions and scrolls (and one would assume more valuable then, too, so more expensive). Healing skill becomes very important, as does masterwork healers kits, and additional herbal & alchemical products. Also...

True - but currently it works the same way. 6 LP gives you 3 for speaking and 3 for writing/reading. A single skill point spent on the skill gives you 3 LP. It really just boils down to how much you wish to define/break down reading/writing and speaking. Currently, I assume 3 levels of each...
