    Perverse Incentives

Brilliant idea! What a lot of fun! Instead of a fixed XP rate, I would scale the reward based on the character's level (a mission CR?). 25/50/100 xp is not much of an incentive for higher-level characters. - Ed

    D&D 4E 4E Model?

I think they'll stick with the 3 book format. We gamers, as customers, have been trained by years/decades of playing to perceive DnD a certain way. All DnD games start with this basic: Players get a PH; DMs get a PHB and MM. After that, it's the style of the individual game that then determines...

    FLGS in Northern Jersey

I live in Sussex County (Hardyston) and the closest to me is Dark Tower on Route 10 in Denville (northern Morris). It is also where my friends in Mt. Olive and Hopatcong shop. Really nice store - clean and upscale. Nicest FLGS I've ever shopped in.

best 5th level spell for blaster sorcerer

In this light, Greater/Shadow Conjuration/shades is much more preferred than Shadow Evocation, getting many spells requiring no Will Save such as: unseen servant, mount, phantom steed, dimension door, Leomund's secure shelter, secret chest, teleport, mordekainen's magnificent mansion, phase...

best 5th level spell for blaster sorcerer

My arcane casters always have high abilities scores to help against the Will saves. I always enjoy my shadow magic, even with the risks! :)

best 5th level spell for blaster sorcerer

I'll second what another post said above: Shadow Evocation. <<You tap energy from the Plane of Shadow to cast a quasi-real, illusory version of a sorcerer or wizard evocation spell of 4th level or lower.>> It is a BPT (best possible thing) spell, uber-flexible plus it has the potential to be...

    Dragon #349

Whizbang, We need a new race, the "Almost-Human" -- somewhere back in time, some ancestor of yours mated with something other than human although nobody knows what it was and you have gained some minor ability that could be just as easily attributable to an elemental as it could a fiend...

My Big, Fat, Colossal Red Dragon is...

Just got my gargantuan black (gar-black) dragon yesterday. While he is tremendous next to my other minis, Gar-Black still looks like a snack for ol' Big Red. Is there anything else as big as Big Red coming out?

My Big, Fat, Colossal Red Dragon is...

TOO BIG! :p I mean really. This dragon so dwarfs all my other minis. Bringing it out on the table makes the other minis look rather tiny, like specks of dust. Even epic level minis wielding their pin-size swords look ridiculous when moving up for the attack. I should sell it, but I think I...

Speaking in "faux old English" [Poll]

Keeping away from where such an open-ended statement could go  , I am sure you are having "outrageous" fun. (Said in that worst of French impressions, the Monte Python one).

Speaking in "faux old English" [Poll]

Technically, this wouldn't be Old English. Old English is unrecognizable to our Modern English ears, and the Early Modern English of Shakespearean days sounds more and more archaic with each passing generation. I think you are talking about using a 1950s-ish Hollywood stylized version of...

Monte Cook on publishing a successful d20 product

What you so negatively attack as marketing and hype is actually an ages-old sound and trusted business practice -- that of building strong relationships with your customers. Why so negative on something so fundamentally good for business and equally good for customers? Do you have something...

[Updated] - FANTASY MONEY is here!

Absolutely brilliant concept! Hats off to Morrus for thinking of this. The execution, however, needs a lot of work: > The sample does not look like money. It looks like a nondescript image of a wizard with a border and words in 2 corners. I know it is money by looking at it, but there is a lot...
