D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

You state several falsehoods in your rendition. 100% provable falsehoods. For example, you state the only person surprised by Gary's ouster is Gary. However, we can all hear directly from many people there at the time they were all surprised. We know this. We're certain. There is no doubt at all...

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

None of them could imagine it. Rose Estes, who isn't a bit fan of Gary at the time, was stunned. Everyone was stunned. Gary didn't even know it was Williams behind it when it was happening.

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

There are much more ethical means to accomplish those goals. She chose unethical ones because they were shortcuts and it left her in charge rather than someone they could all agree on together in arbitration or with a mediator or with the bank holders. I think people are finding excuses to...

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

Agreed. He was behaving awful. This does not make me think Williams was not also behaving awful. She was behaving "better" than Gary, but that's not the standard. Everything she did in that week was deeply weasel-like and nasty. There were much better and more honest ways to attempt to obtain...

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

Where a company incorporated is irrelevant for this topic. That's purely a tax issue, not a regulation issue. Same with data centers (which are copied across the globe including in California for load balancing) or training, all irrelevant. Where the humans doing the work are located is all that...

    Spoilers THUNDERBOLTS* (spoilers I guess?)

Again, it has an asterisk i the title with (spoilers I guess?) Can we please stop gaslighting with what's written in the thread title? What does "I guess?" mean to you?

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

If you regulate it in California, where most of the AI companies are based, 1/7th of the nations GDP, and 1/8th of the population, that generally is enough to force the issue. They're not going to run one version for California and another for the rest of the nation, and other states and often...

    Spoilers THUNDERBOLTS* (spoilers I guess?)

I meant the comment with the spoiler tag. Again yes the thread has it but it very clearly has a question mark on it. Nevermind, you did it, it's done. Just don't think I've ever seen someone do that, and surely not with a "whoops, sorry if I messed it up for you" when they found out it caused...

D&D (2024) Bonus action minor illusion (wizard illusionist 3rd level ability) creating cover and halflings

This is my new favorite Wizard subclass and will be playing with it in two different campaigns, one with a arcane trickster and the other straight wizard (with a level dip in Ranger for Armor probably). All you need for a successful hide check is 3/4s cover, which offers a lot of AC boost as...

    Spoilers THUNDERBOLTS* (spoilers I guess?)

It says "spoilers I guess?" It was unclear, probably because the movie is JUST coming out and usually we give it a few days for serious spoilers. Don't think I've ever seen the very first response post be a spoiler, with no spoiler tag, literally the hour it's hitting theaters.

    Spoilers THUNDERBOLTS* (spoilers I guess?)

So I guess the answer is "Spoilers: Yes" with you spoiling that literally before the first weekend of the movie in the second friggen post.

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

The Podcast makes it very clear she directly orchestrated a secret takeover of the company, using directly nefarious means to trick Gary into a meeting under false pretenses. She used dubious interpretations of company policy to engage in multiple secret stock purchases, one of which very likely...

    D&D (2024) I attack the darkness!

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but for 5.24 this is incorrect. Unless the spell specifies you cannot see in that darkness (which the Darkness spell does specify), darkvision can now see in magical darkness.

Talespin is SO GOOD right now and getting better. Highly recommend it.

    D&D 5E Arcane Recovery strategy

It absolutely depends on how many slots you find you're using for the Shield spell. If you're not needing that very often, it's the 4th level slot. If I am, it's at least some if not all the first level slots.

D&D (2024) Sage Advice Compendium Updated To 2024

4e went through like 4 different variations over the course of the publishing history before they finally landed on that one. I agree it's better than this, but it sure didn't feel like a "fine" process at the time when they updated the friggen rule multiple times in a matter of weeks. I think...

Wizards of the Coast Says That China Tariffs Will Have Minimal Impact on D&D

Following up on the prior India topic. Funskool is a board game manufacturer out of India. They make some Hasbro board games, Asmodee games, etc.. For example, they currently produce Catan. I expect we'll see some board game companies moving some production to them. Aequs out of India is also...

Wizards of the Coast Says That China Tariffs Will Have Minimal Impact on D&D

My company did just buy something at the 145% tariff level but it's a pretty absurd level. This particular thing is an exception for us. It cost's $2 and sells for $14. So costing now $4.9 is still fine, though the majority of our expenses are not in the product cost itself but in the overhead...

Wizards of the Coast Says That China Tariffs Will Have Minimal Impact on D&D

Clint that's not even the post you quoted or that I called rude! You quoted "Do you have an example of a miniatures or boardgames company that does their plastic mini/component manufacturing in India?" The rest of that paragraph, which you didn't quote, was "A link would be useful. Or is that...
