D&D 5E Whatever "lore" is, it isn't "rules."

Several times I feel like what is on dispute is like arguing whether or not angels are genderless....

D&D 5E Boots of Striding and Springing.......kinda lame

Low level, low power magic item. Will make your 3rd level cleric or whatever struggling with splint armor happy. Or that thief who just wants to jump over rooftops stealing stuff while in the city, you know.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Wizards & Warlocks -- Hexblades, Raven Queens, and Lore Mastery!

It was on purpose, as pointed out earlier in the thread. Most likely as a choice for those who want to use a heavy weapon and have to go str anyway. EDIT - changing post and quote order for clarity sake.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Wizards & Warlocks -- Hexblades, Raven Queens, and Lore Mastery!

While I agree that there is no real need to lock the invocation with a specific weapon, I did find it not stupid, but rather flavorful that they chose a flail to mimic a property inspired by tentacle attacks, with the reach and "grabbing" (i.e. 0 move) thing.

    D&D 5E A bit of a dilemma

I doesn't really matter, does it? I mean, the cult can progress at any pace you want, and every group of adventurers might find out in different ways and at different moments the whereabouts of the cult. So in the end you either pace the cult progress in a way that matches the players' progress...

    D&D 5E Tankiest 5th-level PC

I'm really glad to read all that! Also, sounded like a funny little adventure, I enjoy hags in swamps!

    D&D 5E A bit of a dilemma

I believe adventure assumes the DM will also handle xp for several "accomplishments" if milestones are not used, even though it is not spelled out this way. It already gives plenty of examples of such, also pointing out how diplomacy or whatever other tactics should benefit the players as much...

D&D 5E Proposal: Fighter/mage/thief: quick and dirty concurrent multiclassing/gestalt rules

Sorry if it was already addressed somewhere else, but I cannot seem to find. Your system seems to discourage eldritch knight/wizard over, for instance, battlemaster/wizard, as a big chunk of the eldritch knight package is lost (spell slots, specifically). Was it intentional? Or do you believe...

D&D 5E Boots of Striding and Springing.......kinda lame

For low level play they can be quite fun (they are just uncommon). Afterwards, you give them as a gift to some loyal hireling, should you ever find better boots or run out of attunement slots.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Wizards & Warlocks -- Hexblades, Raven Queens, and Lore Mastery!

I have seen people complaining that the elements are unbalanced, and that dragon sorcerers should have a way to change the element in the spells in order to benefit more from their elemental affinity feature. The way I see it, each element works as something different in-game, they are not just...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Wizards & Warlocks -- Hexblades, Raven Queens, and Lore Mastery!

I am neither agreeing or disagreeing, just want to point out: All full casters have the same spell slot progression. Wizards and land druids get a recovery feature that gives half class level worth of spell levels (1 to 10). This is limited to once per day after a short rest, when the caster...

    D&D 5E Tankiest 5th-level PC

Oh, that's awesome! Whenever you see a situation where you can block your enemies in a way they will not have many options but to attack you, try some blade ward love. The armor will last way longer. I have managed to make red slaads regret running over me by using this spell, even tough they...

D&D 5E Proposal: Fighter/mage/thief: quick and dirty concurrent multiclassing/gestalt rules

Just pointing out, neither a high level pure sorcerer nor a pure wizard would really be worrying about running out of shield spells. Between sorcery points with flexible casting and sorcerous restoration, and wizard arcane recovery and spell mastery, there is really plenty.

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

I guess we all should start contacting our attorneys to check our posts before submitting them to the forum.

D&D 5E When Fiends Attack: Are Balors, Pit Fiends and Ultraloths too weak?

This also illustrates very well some of the issues I see with upping the stats of Strahd, or the fiends. Über stat monsters can be quite boring.

    D&D 5E Tankiest 5th-level PC

You can if you already are benefiting from temporary hit points. From the "Temporary hit points" section of the Player's Handbook combat chapter (also in SRD V5.1, page 98): "If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you decide whether to keep the ones you have or to gain the...

D&D 5E Why do so many DMs use the wrong rules for invisibility?

Actually I'm needin' m'self some ol' "left" rules for invisibility over here...... or there, I can't see. (or might not, or may not, or will not, I'm not sure anymore)

    D&D 5E Tankiest 5th-level PC

In short, that's correct. You will be getting temporary HPs from different sources, so there is some strategic management you should be doing. The armor will give bulky protection, but it is costly and has a duration, whereas the fiendish temporary HPs don't consume any resource, but you cannot...

D&D 5E Blink and the single monster

I still don't find it quite logical to gimp some classes less than others. I am sure that ranged rogue there on the corner is not as sad to have to keep readying attacks as the 11th level fighter archer in a combat everybody is trying to make good use of cover.
