I would never use a Drow Warrior level 1. The Drow, like both kinds of Gith, are higher level opponents in my mind. CR (or 4E equivalent) in the 7-15 range.

For the last time, HP loss <> wounds in 4E. If you're stabbed all over and have blood coming out of every orifice, you're DEAD. Your HP are going to be luck/resolve/toughness, not physical damage. Read one of the dozen threads on the subject.

Mearls definitely has a certain . . . "moral flexibility". Just check out any of his various sigs/profiles. Also, applying the FB template to a Giant? That's just evil.

Yeah, that short weapon list makes me remember the rogue in the early playtest who was wielding the greataxe for the dmg, even though he wasn't proficient. (Though they did nerf the greataxe after that, IIRC)

I'll bet you anything that there are plenty of classes/powers where you attack with "Int vs. Reflex" or whatever. But yeah, Int doesn't seem to serve much purpose for the Rogue. Guess they got tired of CHA being everyone's dump stat and decided to mix it up a bit. :)
