    15 Minute NPCs

Sure, a generic NPC like that you can knock up pretty quickly. However, 10 minutes is a long time for me for a generic NPC - I'd much rather use something from a MM for that. When I go to the effort to build an NPC, I'm usually building a villain of some sort which I hope will be a decent...

Love the Game, Hate the Marketing

Hey, Le Rouse! Keep up the good work! It's very cool to see you, Sara, Rodney, Mearls and the rest on the boards. We really appreciate you guys being in contact and answering questions like this. Just recharge those +10 Flame Resistance rings (I'm assuming you're all Paragon-tier marketers and...

What Classes/Roles Are Revealed So Far?

And Bard will not be in the first PHB (ditto Swordmage). Speculation: The new FR article explicitly mentions Primal as a power source - I'm guessing Barbarian, Druid, and Sorceror, probably as Defender, Leader, Controller, but who knows for sure?

What Classes/Roles Are Revealed So Far?

Bard is pretty much confirmed as an arcane leader. Everything else is conjecture at this point, as far as I'm aware.

    D&D 4E Dungeons of Dread Preview 1 - 4e stuff!

That's correct. I think it was in the Shadowfell chapter of W&M that they said Radiant Energy was replacing Positive Energy as the "life force"-y energy type.

WotC_PeterS: Power Names (UPDATE: They just keep coming)

Love the Game, Hate the Marketing

I agree that the DDI blows right now. I don't really care that much about it though. Seems like a bad idea that somebody high up the corporate ladder thought would be good (seen things like that at my own company). It won't affect my ability to enjoy what sounds like an excellent game...

    History repeats itself

Different experiences I guess. My entire group is chomping at the bit for 4E, and we've switched over to SWSE and White Wolf until it comes out. Can't really get up any enthusiasm for a 3E game at the moment.

    About Death and Resurrection

Even if it is "against the rules" for a heroic character to come back, it'll still happen if the DM/group wants it to. One of the WotC playtest reports mentioned a 2nd level character coming back from the dead "due to a ring stolen from the Sea-Kings".

It Starts (Splatbooks - Martial Power in October)

Whereas I, as an Oriental Adventures type fanboy, am really hoping that they hold off on the Monk until they release Ki Power or some equivalent. :)

You see what happens, John? You go and start posting about 4th edition, you get people like me clicking around and finding your story hours and the legions bitching for an update increase.

    Where's the Bard?

No offense Reynard, but why is it bad? I understand the idea that it's not necessary - you think it's fine for some players to "not be good at things" in the sense of not having anything to contribute for an encounter. I understand that point of view. What I don't understand is why it's "general...

    D&D 4E Mouseferatu weighs in on 4e

Holy ****. I apologize to any of the anti-4E crowd on these boards if I've ever said anything unkind to you. You are all paragons of reason and open-mindedness. *shivers and attempts to wipe the Paizo off*

    Where's the Bard?

Two arguments here: 1) Everyone should have something useful to do in combat. Since combat is a major part of the game, suckiness in combat should not be a "balancing factor" for being good out of combat (and vice-versa). 4E, Rechan and I think this is a good idea, Reynard disagrees. I'm not...

    Where's the Bard?

NO. Just NO. That's a bad idea that 4E has finally fixed. Balance combat effectiveness vs combat effectiveness, balance out of combat vs out of combat. I agree that the bard doesn't need to be a swashbuckling fighter or kick huge amounts of ass, but that doesn't mean that you design it to suck...

D&D 4E Trying to run 4E before its release?

I don't have the time or the energy to try and re-create 4E via house-rule at the moment. But I am starting a SWSE campaign for my group this week due to excitement over 4E (ie, I'll play 3.75 until 4.0 comes out).

Worlds & Monsters: humans are boring??

It's good that humans can have thousands of diverse cultures - it's better if both humans and the other races have diverse cultures. Wizards isn't going to lay out a bunch of cultures in the PHB/DMG, because they're just providing the bare minimum of culture fluff due to page count limitations...

Worlds & Monsters: humans are boring??

Dwarves are cool because they are cool. You could have an all-dwarf party and it would rock. Tieflings are cool partly because they're cool and partly because they're rare - they definitely have a little emo-drizzt thing going. Dragonborn weren't cool until they became a race of honor-bound...

Worlds & Monsters: humans are boring??

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. You enjoy a fantasy world that is predominantly human, with your extra fast elves and your cranky dwarves sprinkled in as special and different. I've played in/read a variation on that dozens of times. I'm bored and frustrated with that world, mainly...

    What about skills ?

Based on hints they've dropped, as well as the Pit Fiend stats they just released, we're all assuming they work the same way as in Star Wars Saga Edition. That is to say, you don't have skill points anymore - every skill roll is [ability mod]+[1/2 char level]. In addition, each class gets a...
