Do the Non-US Players and DMs use the metric system?

At my boardgame table ALL boardgame currency is called gold. Space game = gold. Post Apocalypse = gold. Pre Historic Dinosaurs = gold.

Do the Non-US Players and DMs use the metric system?

I assume we had to give up all that space in our head to keep remembering to pronounce the letter R.

There is no limit to the number of crayons in the box. I've never thrown out a crayon, but there are some I've never used. I still want them, though.

Which board game would you buy, and why?

The Alien game is not good. Edit (to be more informative): The game does not scale properly for different numbers of players. The alien has the potential to do stuff after each player turn. In a 2p game the alien moves once in between your turns. In a 4p get it moves three times. So...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

I'm only going to respond to this one because it's the only one addressing what I have been saying in this thread. I said that when you remove concepts (aka specific colors of crayons) from the list of available topics that can be included in a game (the box of crayons) then the area your game...

Isn't a game mechanic a rule? I don't think there are any mechanics for slavery in 5e (other than maybe mental control magic).

They literally are. See changes to Mind Flayers and Yuwn-Ti among others.

There is slavery in Star Wars. Star Wars is not a grindhouse genre of film. Star Wars is considered family friendly. Yuan-Ti have historically been identified as slavers. Yuan-Tu slavery can be explored in a game as lightly as Anakin's slavery was in SW....or it can be explored as harshly as...

Good lord, this thread.... Previously in this thread I have stated that you shouldn't remove the red crayon from the box, because it limits possibilities in storytelling. @Faolyn (and others) replied that I can color infinite pictures without a red crayon, so I shouldn't miss it being gone if...

Why do you feel like it's a good enough fantasy buffer from reality to excuse a kobold bandit trying to kill you in a mugging but not apply the same fantasy buffer to snake-guy wants to kidnap you and take you to a hidden desert lair to toil in mine?

D&D (2024) Does anyone else think that 1D&D will create a significant divide in the community?

2014 could compete by actually releasing new and interesting mechanical bits instead of just a treadmill of settings and adventure paths. But I suspect all the players who want new and interesting mechanical bits have already moved on, so maybe it's too late?

I have a Beyond account. I have only used it to d/l free materials like the play tests. I don't use it for playing the game and haven't spent any money there.

I think Africa gets most of its RPG exposure by way of Ancient and Roman Egypt which has had a lot of references throughout D&D history. There is certainly a lot of untapped interesting potential to be found in central and south Africa, for sure.

You keep limiting this discussion to a singular campaign/adventure. I'm discussing the system as a whole. There are great G rated movies, but that's not all I want out of streaming.

You tell me. What story can be told in an RPG session that couldn't be told ten years ago?

I suppose if we can't agree that removing crayons leaves you with less colors there really isn't much we could find common ground on.
