What Apps can't you live without for tabletops RPGs either on iPad, Android, or PC?

So as some of you know from my earlier thread (http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?336123-In-need-of-advice-laptop-vs-ipad-for-tabletop-gaming!) I'm considering purchasing some kind of tablet to help me as a DM and perhaps my players at the gaming table. I know the apps available for...

    Geekhackery: Tablet Specs

I love the article... but one thing to keep in mind: Your chart uses the Microsoft Surface with Windows RT which is day/night difference from the Surface Pro (which is the comparison in the ipad vs surface pro you linked) The Surface Pro uses Windows 8 Pro OS, Windows 8 RT OS will not run any...

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

This is the crux of the issue... compared in what way? For my work (graphic designer) the PC has NEVER compared to the Mac; a mac blows it away no problem. I'm sure you have your own point of reference for which the Mac "fails" but perhaps not everyone uses a mac the way you do. Perhaps we are...

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

People tend to forget that Word was out for the Mac as long as there have been Macs (the first Macintosh in 1984 came with Word). And yes, it's typically more stable on a mac than it is on the PC.

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

A couple of questions for you Lex. 1) Have you used a OSX macintosh for more than a few hours? 2) Do you drive a race-car? Perhaps a vehicle stripped of AC, Radio, etc? 3) Have you ever used the Microsoft Suite on a OSX? I'm going to guess no. Some data about myself Lex. I build my own PCs for...

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

My likely needs would be: • Referencing PDFs (4th edition books and the entire FR library going back to the original 1984 release). I can currently do about 1/3 of my needed library on the kindle fire, but its very, very slow to render PDFs. • Compendium access (the D&D website has a version...

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

Will a nexus have the app selection that an ipad will? Like I said, on the kindle rpg apps are extremely limited. I wouldn't want to invest in something that gaming apps aren't being developed for (or at least not in suitable quantities/quality).

Fighters vs Wizards - A New (?) Look at Balance...

Pacing in a campaign has a huge effect on casting, don't discount it so quickly. If your group likes 3rd edition, you can modify it work with your needs. I've done it myself and had great success with it, but it does require a bit of work up front. If you do the "Spells per week" the critical...

Fighters vs Wizards - A New (?) Look at Balance...

Ok, that's much more informative! You have three basic issues and I'd like to address their merits individually. 1) Low magic campaign balance. This I completely understand, you are playing a home-brew (or highly modified) version of a 3rd edition game. In a campaign world like Forgotten Realms...

Fighters vs Wizards - A New (?) Look at Balance...

Beyond saying you know more than someone, can you give more specific complaints or issues? I think it's pretty clear, for some reason, they rub you the wrong way. But if you wish to have any kind of valid argument besides simply not liking wizards and vague generalities, please get more specific...

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

I have tried most of the table-top apps on the kindle, of the few they have. They tend to be very low quality, unfortunately. I had heard from friends (in other gaming groups) that the ipad has a much larger selection of apps for table-top gaming (of course, I can't confirm this myself). Android...

In need of advice: laptop vs ipad for tabletop gaming!

So I'm a DM for a 4th edition D&D group and I'm considering either buying a ipad or a laptop to assist my DM'ng during games. I have a budget of $600-ish (USD) for this. The ipad, from what I've read seems very handy and there seem to be many apps that could be helpful. Unfortunately it's...

    Fallout New Vegas Mentats...

I suspect both teams are way too busy promoting and getting ready to go gold with the game to bother; I just wanted to send them a thanks for all the many years I've enjoyed the Fallout universe (going all the way back to the original Wasteland).

    Fallout New Vegas Mentats...

I had made these as stocking stuffers last year... I had some left over empty ones so I re-filled them and sent some over to Obsidian and Bethesda as thanks for the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas. As far as the manufacture: after quite a bit of searching I found some blank tins, then very...

Can you make sense of my weather chart?

Yeah... I tried to lessen it, but those seem to be the minimum needed variations for semi-realistic weather. If anyone has another suggestions on this, I'd love to hear it.

Can you make sense of my weather chart?

Yes, so lets say on the 30th of Ches (March), due to some very lucky previous rolls and so on, your temperature was up +3 bands from the monthly standard. On the 30th of March, that would put the temperature at Moderate. On the following day, the 1st of Tarsakh (April), your starting point...
