Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

Mind Blank is a higher level spell though. I am of the instinct that True Seeing trumps Mind Blank since it feels like a "indirect" effect. But honestly, by the RAW, I think that Mind Blank trumps it.

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

I thought in 3.5, there was no difference between the divine and arcane versions of True Seeing.

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

Is the FAQ considered "official"? If so, trusting it or not doesn't matter since this is the rules forum. If it isn't, that's a different story.

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

But, wouldn't it be, by definition, Divination spells directed at the caster? Other divination spells simply don't affect the person Mind Blanked.

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

The Fireball discussion isn't productive or reasonable, let's move on. I think many people think of spells like True Seeing, See Invisibility, etc to be passive spells that enhance the viewer, not something directly affecting other targets. I think that's the assumption, but it may not be...

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

Actually, it does more than protect against mind-affecting magics. From the SRD: "This spell protects against all mind-affecting spells and effects as well as information gathering by divination spells or effects."

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

Sounds like Improved Invisibility and Mind Blank are a tough combo to beat. I'm still not sure I understand why See Invisibility and True Seeing (when used on the prime) would work against Invisibility type spells, but not against Blinking or Etherealness...

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

From Merriam-Webster: "Divination: 1: the art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers 2: unusual insight : intuitive perception" SRD defines it: "Divination Divination...

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

Why wouldn't Mind Blank work? It essentially makes you immune to all divinations.

Invisibility and Mind Blank vs True Seeing or See Invisibility?

Invisibility and Mind Blank (or Nondetection) vs True Seeing or See Invisibility... what would happen in such a situation?

Blinking VS See Invisible & True Seeing?

Etherealness mentions "See invisibility and true seeing reveal ethereal creatures." Which would seem to answer the question at hand. On Hypersmurf's point: To me, it does seem to be, to think of it practicaly, that you ARE in both planes. Or at least some of you is. Etherealness seems to give...

Blinking VS See Invisible & True Seeing?

So, on my drive to work this morning, I think I figured it out... Creatures on the ethereal plane exist on both the prime and the ethereal. On the ethereal plane, the creatures and objects are wholly there and completely visible. On the prime, the creatures and objects are there, but invisible...

Blinking VS See Invisible & True Seeing?

In support of the "no and no" argument... From the FAQ (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20030221a): "An ethereal wall would be visible to someone using true seeing (or a similar effect). The rules don’t describe whether such objects block line of sight, but it’s reasonable to assume...

Blinking VS See Invisible & True Seeing?

To be the devil's advocate Blinking says "You strike as an invisible creature (with a +2 bonus on attack rolls), denying your target any Dexterity bonus to AC." and it goes on to explain that during the "blink" period, you are an ethereal creature. "Since you spend about half your time on the...

The EN World FREE Character Portrait Request Thread!

Awesome, thank you very much Chain Lightning :) :) :). The original concept was a study in redemption. I wanted the character to have an "iconic" feel to him, so I made him a outcast avariel (winged elf) who had his wings removed for betraying his people. Making him, almost literally, a fallen...
