Will 4E Eberron be as bad as FR?

For me the 4e Forgotten Realms was a refreshing update. I don't think Eberron will receive any major overhauls, but I'm sure changes will be made to bring it in line with the 4e design principles. I never did really get into the 3e version of Eberron that much. It seemed like we were riding...

How does the encounter builder work?

I agree. The encounter builder is like a smile with a missing tooth. It could be much more than it is.

Is 4e bringing new players to the game?

Three words for ya: World of Warcraft With 4e, I've gotten two of my former D&D players to pause WoW long enough to spark their interest in D&D again. It was hard, but I don't think I would have a chance had in not been for the new version. Overall, I think the online computer games have...

    Making outdoors encounters more interesting.

Try to add something interesting to the encounter that you might find in nature. Some examples: Looming storm, high wind, rain, dust storm, gnats, butterflies, hornet nest, mud, strange plants, outdoor odors, rock or snow slides, flooding, forest fires, smoke, a skunk, a pack of wild dogs...

    Any word on the GSL?

I'm wondering what impact the new GSL will have on adventure conversion efforts. Or is that in the domain of a fan-site policy? Oh well, I'm just confused about the whole thing.

How does the encounter builder work?

After you press the Build Encounter button and see the list of monsters, you'll note there is a small icon to the left of each entry that looks like an eye. If you click that icon, it will show the monster's stats from the compendium. I hope this helps.

What are you doing with the money you aren't spending on gaming products?

Dentist. Now I only have two real teeth left. Thanks to the low number of third party 4e products (relative to the roaring 3e days), I'm getting this rather painful business over with. On the plus side, I can roleplay a toothless beggar much better now :)

    Theme music for Bosses

Ever seen the Flash Gordon movie? Music is by Queen. The music they play to intro Ming the Merciless is just perfect for any boss. ;)

Do official adventures follow DMG advice?

Adventures are like fine meals. The end result depends not only on your presentation, but also the tastes and preferences of your players. Different players enjoy different play styles; the challenge is getting to know your players and altering your presentation to match those tastes. In my...

    How to handle "shopping"?

I like the idea (previously mentioned) about setting up non-combat encounters. I like the idea of using Skill Challenges to locate rare resources. A player that invested in a skill like Streetwise may get to feel they benefited from the points invested. I'm always looking for ways to work all...

    Conversions

I'm having a hard time putting this thread behind me because I find the idea of running older adventures with the new rules very appealing. Conversion to the current rules is one way to add value to what you already have invested in. I even have some adventures from previous editions that I...

    Conversions

Wow Jack99, your RHoD conversion is coming right along. I especially like how you have setup the various skill challenges. Thanks for your effort in doing this! :)

    Conversions

Hum, where does one go to find 4e adventure conversions? I checked the downloads section here at ENWorld and also the fan creation forum. So far, I haven't been able to find a single conversion. Is there some popular place that folks are posting conversions? Thanks.

    Conversions

Wow, I may have to buy back some of the 3.5 adventures I sold. My bet was that no one would be interesting in converting stuff to 4e (I'm glad to be wrong). I was thinking the rules were so different that conversion was pratically impossible.

    Attacking a held light source

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't aware of all the ramifications, so I got alot out of the discussion. Since there are no rules for this situation (and I don't want to open a can of unruly worms), I think I'll just have the Dark Creeper attack the PC holding the light source. If he takes down the...

    Attacking a held light source

I've looked all over for the answer to this one. Are there 4e rules for sundering/attacking a held light source? For example, I have a Dark Creeper that wants to put the lights out by attacking the sunrod that one of the PCs is carrying. Do the grab rules apply in this situation? Can it just...

Can a Cleric use a Battleaxe?

I'm confused about the weapon use rules. For example, I know the Cleric is proficient with simple weapons and get the prof. bonus when using these weapons. But can a Cleric use a weapon from the Military group at all (just without the bonus)? I'm just wondering if someone untrained in...

Forked Thread: DDI Subscribers: Are you satisfied with your subscription?

Same here. I'm really liking my DDi subscription, especially the mags and the character builder. I feel like I'm getting my money's worth now, and in the future it will be even better. :)

digital insider: Monk in PH3, playtest in May

Oh no, I'm twitching again. Looking at March and beyond, I can't help but get excited. OK, I'll guess now: Monk --- Power source: Ki Role: Controller Something tells me that Ninja will be the striker.
