To me, this is one of the best aspects of D&D 5e. I'm sure options for battlemaps, etc. will be added, but I'm glad they are not needed to play the basic game. The feeling of freedom I got by playing 2e back in the day has returned.

I'm happy with it because I enjoy FR lore. However, I think other campaign settings will have their time in the sun (pun Dark Sun, eh). I can't wait to see if Ravenloft and Spelljammer make a return as well.

I'm hoping that between the Starter Set and the Basic rules that the monsters in the pay to play test adventures (like Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle) will be covered. That would make it easy to update the adventures for play.

Which begs the question... The the default party size suppose to be four or five?

I support keeping the core simple and expanding from there with additional products.

Yes, I'm buying it all. I want to thanks Mearls and team for bringing back the D&D from the brink. It has been a long three years and we are almost there now. It feels like a good friend, after being away for a long while, has finally returned.

Should we play it now or wait? Can anyone that has played through Ghosts of Dragonspear offer advice on how to handle this adventure? Does it run smoothly with stats as written, or would it be better to wait until the revised monster stats are released? This adventure is how I was planning to...

So that's why Tyranny of Dragons will be released along side of the Player's Handbook. I wonder if the stats released in these adventures will match those in the Monster Manual, which isn't due to October. If not, I imagine they will be very close.

New monsters? If I understand this correctly, people are thinking the monster math will be redone in the final release? If so, what problem is the change supposed to address?

Really? Why the big increase in HPs for the Ogre? Does this mean other monsters in the release version will be using different monster math? Did anyone already know this was coming? Thanks.
