    For the Record, Again

Why do you run these kinds of fights? Are level-appropriate fights just not good enough for you? :)

    What's so special about Dragonlance?

A set of badly written adventures where you play through as characters from a novel? Poorly thought-out morality? SAGA? As a campaign setting for a roleplaying game, I have very little respect for Dragonlance. About the only cool thing about it is that the bad guys get to ride around on dragons.

    JollyDoc's Savage Tide-Updated 10/8!

And he's holding a weapon. Definitely unrealistic. :)

    Fear and Cowardice

Well, it's generally a supernatural effect. It's not like failing a save against a dominate means that your PC is a traitor. That said, the PCs that make the saving throw against fear effects tend to laugh at the people who didn't after the fight. And we all laugh at the guy who failed his Fort...

    PH3 Playtest Race: Wilden

Yeah, everything should just look human or get killed by angry mobs, if you ask me.

    It's official...

/agree with Victim. The Feylock is the Diet Coke of Warlocks. It's the Warlock for people who want to hug bunnies instead of setting them on fire, people who don't want to make any real sacrifice for their power (and you get what you pay for, b/c the Feylock excels solely at teleporting)...

No. Why would you think that you could?

    PHB2 sold out!

Speaking as a supply chain professional, people in my profession tend to favor distribution/production/inventory strategies that keep costs low and gets product to customers, instead of trying to impress random people on the Internet with how fast you sell out of your newest book. Just a thought.

Pathfinder 1E [April fools joke] Boo WotC! Wizards to sue Paizo for TM Infringement!

You're right! It would be a lot funnier if this April's Fools joke was clearly labeled as such, to avoid confusion. The real joke here is how many people took what dnddays said at face value without even going to the link. Although, to be fair, press releases tend to be boring.

Whats the deal with rogues anyway?

Really? Hurting your enemies is based on anatomy? Because it sure would be interesting to compare the anatomic knowledge of Olympic fencers, UFC champions, and Delta Force/S.A.S. commandos to those of a first year med student.

    Captured holy implements?

Yeah, it sounds like your DM is being an idiot. I can't find the exact text, but Draco is right. Here, from the AV (p83): "Sometimes a holy symbol is keyed to a specific deity and can be used only by worshipers of that deity." That sounds a lot like an exception to the RAW to me, generally for...

Penny Arcade on 4e Naming Conventions

Shadowdark is lame. Me, I would have gone with Undershadow.

Low Literacy World: Which classes would be literate (read/write)?

I would just assume that all of the PCs have learned how to read, even if most of the world can't (unless someone wants to be illiterate).

    Getting a game published?

I don't have any advice for publishing a game or anything, but you might want to ask yourself if publishing a game with an "unpopular"* theme is really the way to go. *And by unpopular, I mean there aren't many games with this theme.

George RR Martin to his detractors

A machine to crank out fiction upon demand? He's a writer. It's his job. If for some reason I stop doing my job, I expect those to whom I had made a commitment to be rather upset (and probably demand some kind of compensation). By starting a fantasy series, Martin has a commitment to his fans...

Any games to get excited about in 2009?

Yeah, Mass Effect was good when they actually bothered to make a game experience; unfortunately, most of my time playing the game was spent on lifeless, generally hostile worlds driving around in a tank that weighs about twenty pounds and shooting evil robots without another soul in sight...

    Have you played these boardgames?

Between me and my roommate, we own Race for the Galaxy (including the expansion) and Tigris and Euphrates. I like both games, but I like RftG a lot more; it plays faster, and more importantly, I usually win. I'm 0-3 in T&E. At least you get to attack people in Tigris and Euphrates...

Keanu Reeves is Spike Spiegel-- Whoa..!

Speed Racer Did you even see it? From the trailers, I thought that it would suck (and I'm too young to have even seen the cartoon, so it's not like it was destroying my oh-so-precious childhood memories). However, my brother heard it was good, and I stayed around to watch it. And it was pretty...

Keanu Reeves is Spike Spiegel-- Whoa..!

I think it's a solid choice. Spike Spiegel's emotional range and Keanu's match up pretty closely, and Keanu certainly looks right for the role.

    10% of brain = 100% stupid

Then we ascend into energy beings. But not the neutral, peaceful, keep the balance kind. The kind that teleports around the galaxy zapping things. :) And "mentalist" powers are caused by dishonesty and gullibility, nothing more. I mean, I suppose some kind of psychic power is possible, but...
