I'm currently playing in a solo campaign (due to problems getting schedules together, mostly) as a gestalt Egyptian-themed human paladin/monk ("Fist of Horus") who has a dire lion mount and a gestalt cleric/sorcerer cohort. Works OK for our purposes.
