It's Gencon 2000 again but now you have 2 choices.

I'd pick 3.0 by a long shot. Without re-iterating the various reasons, I simply find 3.x to be a better game than 4.0

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder: Fixing the TWF Ranger

One thing to keep in mind is that favored terrains include urban, underground (dungeons) and underground (caves). All three of these cover most campaigns most of the time, so the ranger doesn't really need to be hindered by the DM's choices on that front. It should be pretty easy to know what...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder: Question re Bargin Skill

Considering that 3.5 doesn't have specific rules for bargaining, you should be able to use whatever rules you currently do in 3.5 under the pathfinder rules.

Pathfinder 1E Where's the Pathfinder and OGL games forums?

With the message board reorganization, I can't find anything on the boards that relates to games that aren't D&D. There's the D&D 3rd edition and older boards, and the 4E boards, and that's it. I know that there was a poll on the old OGL game board about should it get merged, but if that's the...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG Alpha 3 Now Ready for Download

I haven't downloaded yet, since I'm getting the store is down error page, but could it be that the ranger ability does in fact represent the ranger getting all numbers 1-20, but just doing it 20 times faster than a non-ranger?

WotC officials: we want MINIS for the modules!

I'm not even a fan of 4E and wouldn't buy the modules made for it, but would certainly buy non-random minis made for the modules. I own about 300 D&D minis, and not a single one did I spend money on a random pack. Most of mine were bought on the secondary market for $2 or less each. I did get...

Goodman Game Sale. What are you going to buy?

I'm waiting to see how low prices get at Gen Con this year.

Are you bothering to read DUNGEON anymore? (and level index)

I'm downloading the modules, and saving them for a time that I run out of print product to read (this could be decades down the road though.)

    Gencon website - Horrible!

Personally, I like the excel sheet version. I can filter, sort, makes notes on the games I'm interested in, and work with offline or at work (where I can't get to the Gen Con site.)

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder: Special Combat Actions Revised

This is supposed to be that way so that a special combat action is harder than just hitting someone. If you take the Improved XXX feat for a special combat action, you get a +4, and that evens things out a lot more.

    Mage-Brute build help

True, but that's why you put a 10 in Con initially, save the good stats for other stuff - until you finish transforming you can use a stat boosting item as well. Once you transform, you gain all the construct type features, wich includes a hp boost based on size (20 for medium sized), and you...

    Mage-Brute build help

I just built an epic level (22nd) character using a different build. Brb1/Ftr 4/Wiz 1/Green Star Adept 10/Eldrich Knight 6. Green Star Adept is the way to go for a fighter with spells - by the time you max it out you're a construct and immune to a ton of stuff, +6 Nat Armor, +6 Str, DR...

    Encounters per Level

Bear in mind thought that 1 encounter in 4E is often more like 3-4 in 3.X. This is because an encounter often includes monsters from other rooms joining the fight in later rounds, so it's the equivilent to multiple rooms in 3.x. This still happened in 3.x of course, but it's just a new way to...

    What's the best fighter/mage class/Prc?

I'll throw out Green Star Adept from Complete Arcane as another PrC worth looking at. Leans a bit towards the fighter side of the equasion, but you can build a pretty mean 'gish' type character with it and in many ways be better than the straight fighter.

    Sequels to Successes

I'm no expert on the New Coke debacle, but that's not how I remember it at the time, nor when I studied the Harvard Buseinss School case study while getting my MBA. The focus groups did give it positive reviews, but it was not the huge sucess you're suggesting. Pretty much immediately after it...

    Whither OotS?

I think it should switch to both, with competing rule sets out there, and mass confusion by the characters about what their abilities are. Eventually it can settle down into one (most likely 4E)

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo being mysterious

I was too afraid to wish for this. This is the BEST birthday surprize ever!

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo being mysterious

They could be deciding what to give me for a birthday present. Admittedly unlikely, but just in case, Paizo, I'd really like a signed copy of the entire Pathfinder #2! :)

D&D 4E 4ed Pace of advancement... do we know anything ?

Keep in mind that 1 encounter in 4e can often have many more monsters/enemies, and have multiple waves of creatures, which in 3e would have often been separate encounters. Therefore, 4e might have a slower rate of advancement if you're counting up the opposition defeated, even if it's fewer...

Design & Development: Warlord Article UP!

Just to throw another hypothetical, the same two allies using Pin the Foe against a fine opponent (say a half-fiend intelligent housefly warlock 6, just for kicks), I'm not sure how they could pin something that small in any way that would restrict its movement (or cause it to provoke OAs if it...
