    AoO questions...

Ah, so that's where I remember it from. I thought I remembered the issue having been addressed specifically. Not that the Sage is infallible, of course.

    AoO questions...

That's what I meant. Sorry if I was unclear (incorrect, even). I wrote that first paragraph before I actually looked up the rules, then didn't realize that I mentioned in the minutiae the very rule I had just referred to.

Shadow Magic Missile still a Force Effect?

According to a strict reading of the spell, I would have to say no. Shadow evocation is a spell of the Illusion school and the Shadow subschool. The spell description does *not* say that when casting a spell of a given elemental subtype (force, fire, etc) that the shadow evocation is...

    SHADES spell

I would rule the Leomund's secret chest to have 60% normal capacity (0.6 cubic feet per caster level). By all accounts, a shadow conjuration, and therefore shades has the full duration of the mimicked spell. As for this "tattoo spell", perhaps you could explain a little? The only similar...

    AoO questions...

Hmm. I had thought the general ruling was that you can't make an attack of opportunity with an attack that would normally draw an attack of opportunity, but looking in the book I can't find that rule. I do recall now that bows have a special rule claiming that you do not threaten the 5 ft...

Can Spikes (DotF) stack with Shillelagh ?

Shillelagh requires as its target "One touched nonmagical oak club or quarterstaff". Thus it could not be cast on an object which is already affected by spikes. However, spikes takes as its target "one wooden weapon", so I don't see why it couldn't be cast on a shillelagh. The enhancement...

    AoO questions...

I believe you can only make an unarmed strike as an attack of opportunity if you have the Improved Unarmed Strike feat. Monks of course gain use of this feat for free.

    PHB gods

The main problem with gods taking a free hand in the world is that the PCs often feel inconsequential. Where gods meddle, the party can often do nothing to thwart them. On the other hand, you might want to take a look at my post here. (I think that will work.) What I describe may be...

[OT] Your Favorite 8-Bit Theater Character

According to the strategy guide, White Mage is male. In 8-Bit, of course, she is female. I'm told that most fan fiction assumes that White Mage is female.

[OT] Your Favorite 8-Bit Theater Character

That was a really hard decision. I love Fighter ("I like swords!"), and was going to play Fighter in a FF-themed D&D game one of my friends wanted to run, but everyone else threatened my life should I play that character. Garland and Princess Sara are both incredibly great, and White Mage is...

    Your character does WHAT?!!!

High Level Fun Okay. One of the characters in the group I DM is a lawful good cleric of Serra (long story - pretend I said Heironeous). Due to certain campaign events, the church of Serra, new to the world and trying to establish itself, found itself at odds with the church of Solarus (think...

    Questions

Cover is when the opponent is hiding behind something (usually only partially). Concealment is when the opponent is hard to see - from fog, foilage, or invisibility, for example. Cover gives your opponent a Cover bonus to AC, concealment gives you a miss chance when trying to hit your...

    Questions

Now that I think about it ... A ring of x-ray vision might be just the item Caliber's Rogue is looking for. The description in the DMG says nothing about negating concealment, of course, but a kind DM might allow it.

    Questions

I really don't think you can negate concealment at all. Even true seeing specifically notes that it does not cancel concealment. A true strike allows you to make one attack roll without worrying about the *miss chance* due to concealment, but it does not actually negate concealment either.

    PHB gods

Right. The FRCS lists what I think of as the "full" racial pantheons. These same pantheons were detailed in 2E in the Monster Mythology and On Hallowed Ground books. So it doesn't seem to me that they're specific to FR, but I could be wrong. Any Greyhawk fans know if the full deity list in...

Sounds like fun to me, d12. Not quite the interpretation I'm used to, but interesting.

Re: Kalimar? There should be a few other threads around that talk about Kalamar in more detail than I could. I own the book, but haven't used it for a game. It claims to be more anthropologically accurate than most settings (which is the reason I bought it), and is full of good hooks, nicely...

Psion "learning" from a Power Stone?

Aha. That seems to clear things up. Strange that the Errata for the PHB makes no mention of it. Unless the errata has increased in size since I grabbed it.

    Ethereal and Incorporeal

Correct. When ethereal, you are "more incorporeal". I was busy trying to figure out the miss chances in my head (what about blind-fight? what if you have Ghost Touch but no blind-fight? true seeing? true seeing and Ghost Touch both?) but then I reread your post and the blink spell covers...

Psion "learning" from a Power Stone?

The PsiHB simply reads that a psion can learn powers "not on the psion power list" by this means. Given that the only psionic powers not on the psion power list (out of the PsiHB) are unique to the Psychic Warrior, I must conclude my reasoning to be correct. However, restricting the ability to...
