dumbest thing a character has survived

Ive had 4 flashes of insanity and my chars managed to survive somehow. The 1st time I ever played D&D (2E) I was a minotaur fighter pirate and found 3 chests attempting to open the 1st 1 I set a trap off and managed my saving throw and then went on and opened the other 2 chests and making my...

My PCs are walking into a problem!!

If there was a frenzied berserker with the don't die even when negative hit points are reached then id say it's pretty much a win even though the berserker would be dead. If it was a minotaur berserker then pain would be dealt in large amounts :] I loved my zerker!!!!!

Build a fortress to withstand almost anything

Or if the group will insist on trying to use magic to get in go for the wild magic effects from 2nd edition, they can be fun and make the players think twice about spell casting too much! As for the castle who said it doesnt have to be air tight nothing was mentioned about living occupants :]...

Assassins: Just Plain Evil or Misunderstood?

I tend to see the Van Helsing in the new film (Not great) as an assassin working for the greater good (in the film), would he classify as evil for killing Werewolves, Vampires and Dr.Jackyl/Mr.Hyde? He kills for no other reason than his orders from the church which comes in line as defending the...

    Anyone successfully played a non-humanoid in D20?

Unfortunately all I've played as is a Minotaur (Was a great blast as a Barbarian/Frenzied Berzerker but low life expectancy)

My PCs are walking into a problem!!

I tend to agree with The Forsaken One a well planned attack and surprise can really hit the enemies hard. I'm part of a group which consists of a 15th level Mage/Fire Elementalist, a 16th level Mage/Fighter/Blade Singer, a 16th level Mage and myself 16th level Rogue/Vigilante. We encountered a...

My PCs are walking into a problem!!

Unfortunately myself a player will always think the DM wont kill us because we're the heroes but after the 3rd encounter where we had character deaths we've started taking to running away a bit more, even more so now where there are no raise dead or resurection spells in play. We are currently...

Undead dungeon in need of villain.

What level are you looking at the end of the dungeon? I always like the thought of a vampire lord or for something a bit more difficult to overcome a spirit which has a host of 4 bodies it enters and controls each body having different abilities say 1 warrior, 1 wizard, 1 priest and 1 rogue...

What stat method do you use??

I think that is a much fairer method so you do get a stat that helps and don't end up with that 10 str fighter or 10 int wizard. And keeps with the character flaws that I do like a lot. Thanks to cedric for such a great reply :)

What stat method do you use??

Wish I could have said it better. I will agree with you that quite possibly on a singular basis the dice roll will come out on top but over a period of character generations the stat buy will come out on top due to the fact you can never go below an 8 or 9 (cant recall which)

What stat method do you use??

With 25 points whats roughly the sverage stats you'll get out of them? Then take into account the fact that dice rolling there's a chance of low stats whereas with point buy you'll never get a low stat! (really low if dm makes you keep whatever you roll) So that in it's self says that a point...

    Which class is most powerful?

God knows who went the warrior way but obviously they haven't seen clerics and wizards chewing everything up like I have. The melee types take on a bystander roll while cleric and wizard dish out the damage. I voted for wizard although I'd have liked to do both wizard and cleric. Upon...

What stat method do you use??

How has this worked in your group? How did you stop people from just saying my char has 17's & 18's throughout?

What stat method do you use??

Not every hero has mr perfect stats. With dice rolling there's more chance of lower stats and that in itself can create rollplay. In previous editions Rastlin was 6 Con or something along those lines, with point buy you'd never ever get someone like that as they'd all be the 'super computer...

Are warriors & rogues required at high level?

Yeah shame it was my char that had to find out the hard way

Are warriors & rogues required at high level?

In our campaign we've only had 1 monk who didn't last that long due to the player not liking it. It's contribution to the game was when he became an npc was under mind control and killed my wizard with a coup de grace while I slept.

What stat method do you use??

This may have been posted previously but I haven't seen anything whilst looking so thought I'd post it. My question is how do you produce stats for your characters/Npc's? Do you prefer the randomness of a dice or the min max of stat buy??? I personally prefer to roll as I get a buzz from...
