Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

It's so puzzling to me. Dungeon and Dragon weren't just vehicles for WotC products, they were product catalogs/fanbooks for the faithful that people actually paid for -- a way to shore up brand loyalty. Most brand managers would kill to have that. Do you pay a subscription to receive Pottery...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Although I never subscribed to them or read them regularly, I'm still sad to see these magazines go, because they enhanced D&D's presence in comic book stores and FLGSs, created a sense of community, and served as a platform for some top-notch illustrators and writers. These publications' most...

    Homemade Dungeon Tiles?

I love looking at the Hirst Arts site -- drool, drool! It seems really time-intensive, though, and the mold-pouring process is really fidgety. Anyone here actually use these molds?

    Homemade Dungeon Tiles?

A couple of years ago I built a foamcore set for my student D&D group, very much like Drkfathr1's description, but I painted and drybrushed it, rather than gluing on a printed texture. I had about 50 pieces, and cost me virtually nothing. I left it in my classroom over the summer, and the...

    middle age swords

I like this list. The falchion shows up in quite a few contemporary illustrations -- I have a feeling it's the most under-represented of these weapons in fiction, film, and gaming. Maybe we can write d20 stats for these swords?

    middle age swords

This gives the impression that 18th century infantry carried spears. That's simply not true. In some armies of that era, sergeants carried a short pike or "oxtongue" as a ceremonial weapon, but units of pikes had disappeared in the late 1600s as the plug bayonet and then the ring bayonet came...

Appropriate classes for a pirate game

I can't believe no one's mentioned Skull and Bones. Includes new core and prestige classes.

d20 Stats for a Headless Horseman

The Northern Crown Gazetteer has stats for headless riders, page 99. I designed them as undead with frightful presence (Ex) and an ability to hurl severed heads to create either a fireball or a scare spell-like effect. Not sure if that matches your concept or not.

[Take 2] Let's See a Pic of Your Gaming Group!

I usually force midnight when we play; it's more atmospheric-- I'll take a snap tomorrow and post it. For now, enjoy this snap of Lorien, with her pet: Lorien's player, Liona, has done an amazing build on her avatar. Her bow is scripted, her pet is animated, I love the animation she has when...

[Take 2] Let's See a Pic of Your Gaming Group!

Here's my current Friday night D&D group in Second Life: Left to Right: Palemoon Twilight as Elzbeth LeFleur (human paladin), me as NPC bard, Liona Clio as Lorien Mistvale (elf ranger), and Piper Erato as Lazell Jollyweather (halfling rogue).

    Steampunk in SPAAAAACE!...???...Seriously

I, too, am trying to figure out how my beloved Space: 1889 is hokey. Maybe because it's too well-grounded in the literature, culture, and speculative science of the actual Victorian era to qualify as steampunk? it's hard to beat Space: 1889's "ether propeller" concept for coolness, but you...

Freaking Awesome 3rd Party Books That Don't Get Enough Praise

Wow, what an honor to head this list of 3rd-party awesomeness! Thanks! It spins my head to think of how many of of these recommended books I've yet to read.

    FUTURISTS: What will replace MMORPGs?

Yes, you will find it between the Flying Car and Tabletop Fusion aisles in Mega-Wal-Mart.

    FUTURISTS: What will replace MMORPGs?

I don't see fully immersive VR happening, even if the costs ever came down to make a home system feasible. Why? Precisely because it's immersive. It's nice to be able to sip a drink, have a snack, or scratch the dog's belly while you're playing a game. Wearing gloves and a headset? No thanks...

    FUTURISTS: What will replace MMORPGs?

Well, Midget, it's entirely possible to create your very own kind of game in Second Life. I know one guy who is about to debut an RPG in Second Life that takes up two entire sims. He has spent about 1000 hours building an entire city for a Machiavellian intrigue RPG. He has over 100 people...

how much can i blow with 300g of gun powder?

Gunpowder is a low explosive, without the concussive effects of high explosives. In my own Northern Crown rules, a 5-lb. keg (over 2000 grams) of gunpowder does 5d6 damage on a direct hit, 3d6 within 5 feet, and 1 d6 within 10 feet. A grenade (2 lbs, or less than 1000 grams) does 3d6 on a...

    Best Game Aids

I have tons of minis and Dwarven Forge stuff, but I've been using them less and less lately, because of the time they take to set up and keep organized. I'm more apt to just scribble out a diagram on a small whiteboard or a piece of paper. A single table that lists all the PCs stats in column...
