    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

Which is what I counted on. Gandalf is a 5th level mu, Krusk is a 5th level barbarian UA, and the orcs..Are hd 4 (In 1st ed terms that means four hp) ---Rusty

    I hope 4.5 isn't called "4.5"

Not to mention I love that quote and the movie it came from. I was tempted to add something about children's flamethrowers but I couldn't think of anything. ---Rusty

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

Then make spell caster follow the core rules. A wizard that follows the rule of choosing spells ahead of time is very difficult to over shadow the same level monk who can kill a dragon with his fist or a barbarian who cleaves his way through anything with a non magic axe!* A caster overshadows...

What ever happened to just "playing" the game and telling a great story?

It all depends on the players. Some players are passive and will simply let the story happen to them via the Dm telling them everything. Other players want to actively engage in telling the story. The Dm and the groups should get together and decide if D&D is going to be a seris of mechanics...

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

Having played spell casters in the LOTR rpgs which uses 2d6, i'd say in my amutaur opinion that the strongest spell caster in the LOTR is only a 6th level Wizard in D&D. The game, like the novels lack powerful offense spells like D&D has. All I had in the way of attack spells was a fireball...

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

Merlin as the real person Merlin who was the Mcquiver of this time, not the Merlin in the Disney movie. Even the Disney Merlin would be cleaved asunder from Arther wielding Excalibur.

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

I think it is funny how players feel like they need to have magic/ supernatural power to be some one. According a a AD&D article, Gandalf was a 5th level MU. Krusk would have a field day creaming him...And gleefully smashing his way through Suron's army since they are all 1hd orcs and some...

    D&D 4E 4e and anime

You hit the nail on the head there. When people say they do not like anime it is because the the traits you list are the turn off button. I like my game to be like the princess bride, not Inuyasha. The kicker is that Record of Lodoss war and the princess bride are the execptions to the rule...

Whats Wrong with Ganking CRPG Stuff???

I would like to elaborate more on a comment I made which passed with obscure notice. I belive there are three different styles of fighting players like depending one what type of fiction they are use too. The three styles are: Cinnimatic: Realistic but exagearted, these warriors are the...

Whats Wrong with Ganking CRPG Stuff???

Two words: Style Clash D&D has always been desinged based off what was popular at the time. OD&D and 1st ed where based of certain books, but Wargames which where the popular hobby at the time. I can't really say for sure what second and third editions are based from, but fourth seems to be...

16 years and slaying all the gods is how my wizard Robert 'Rigamortis' DePaul got to be 74th level. He is currently a Infamous npc and a moderater in the 9 pits of hell, replacing all the powerful demons and devil lords. ---Rusty
