Well,i think the question is:what idea has not been used yet? we have all sort of settings in D&D and/or AD&D. if something different have not been used yet,i don't know what it is.

Hmmm...looking in that way it really seems a good tool for roleplaying too. like you said,it can save the party's ass in a life or death situation...but it comes whit a price.
