4e DMs: Allow players a 5 minute rest after EVERY encounter?

While I have not codified it as a house rule for either of my groups, here is how I deal with it. 1. Sometimes groups will trigger two encounters without taking a short rest, or I will load on another encounter based on their actions or just a narrative need to make the fight harder. When this...

    Those Pesky Dungeon Tiles

I pin the tablecloth down onto the table, so the surface is perfectly flat. I have no problem rolling dice on velvet. I figured if it works in Vegas, it would work for D&D.

    Those Pesky Dungeon Tiles

This WotC guy uses a tablecloth of black velvet. I got a swath of it pretty cheap at a local craft store. It makes the table look nice, helps make fetching photos of the battlefield, and tile shift is a thing of the past. The only downside...my cat's love it. I have to make sure to roll it up...

Plane Below Excerpt: "Talking with mortals make Xanxost's head explode."

I am glad you all like it. I had fun designing it. (Yes, the let developers design sometimes.)

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

Yes, it is a clearing in the middle of the forest that I ran an encounter. It has roots crisscrossing the ground (the debris at the edge of the map, providing difficult terrain) trees placed at your back (the trees provide cover and difficult terrain if you are in them), or to pin an opponent on...

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

Sure. I'll illustrate it using a picture from a game I ran just a couple weeks ago. This is using one set of tiles and only Sinister Woods (I had just received my first set). The encounter was with spriggans and a greenvise vine within a clearing in the middle of the Witch Wood. The spriggans...

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

I'm very pleased to hear this and similar positive comments. This was of course the goal. I know no product will please everyone, and I've received valuable feedback from even those who were disappointed by the set, but hearing comments like these really makes my day. I'm glad you like it.

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

Those trees match the trees we have done with other maps. While I can see what you are saying, I don't mind them as much as you do. They're clear and their meaning easily apprehended by players. Dark Sun...It'll be a wilderness desert setting, a setting where you can have great gladiator...

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

Very true, and indeed very valuable. It's all appreciated.

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

Oh, it's all good. I like that you speak your mind while being friendly. Don't ever change. You know we treat trees as target practice. If it stands upright, blast it. That's what D&D has taught me. Not you? I understand the point. We all do. And that is something that we hope to...

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

I actually didn't limit my design decisions based on this, I was freed to make the design decisions for a set that I really wanted (and I believed other people wanted ), not redesign a set that I already had and knew that we might see again in relatively short order. Hope that helps.

Very disappointed in DU5: Sinister Woods

You know, when I designed this set, I knew that this would be a complaint. What I didn’t imagine is that MerricB (a fan whose opinion I respect) would be very disappointed buy it. :o We (and more specifically I) didn't want to retread the old ground of DT4 Ruins of the Wild for a number of...

    The DM Hotline

I am doing this is a small way. I've created a "Save My Game" group and forum on the Wizards Community. You can find it here. I'll be attempting to answer questions all weekend on that forum (time allowing, of course), especially those from fans outside the country. I'll be gathering some of the...

Alea Tools Magnetic Markers - What do you use?

I have a ton of these suckers. I've purchased every set they've released and use them in both games I run. Red gets the most use, of course. I tend to use the blues for mark (with different shades of blue differentiating marks). When I first got my markers, I outlined all of the conditions in...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

Erik and Jason, beware Pramas's Preatorians, especially when they have Grey Knight Support. I know from experience. Oh, and just so I can pretend I'm not threadcrapping -- Congrats Paizo for a job well done! I know Jason gets cranky if he's not praised at least once an hour.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

Well, if you want to settle the tie, looks like you are bringing Necrons. My Black Templars love making found-art sculptures from Necron parts. Even Space Marines need a hobby. You want to play your Nids you have some painting to do, mister. What do you have, two of those guys done? :p...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

Late to the Party I personally want to commend my friends at Paizo for their hard work on the Pathfinder RPG (and the entire Pathfinder line) and congratulate them for this fantastic success. I’ve worked with, gamed with, and spent nights drinking and laughing with many of those folks, and they...

Which Necromancer Games Adventures Worth Getting/Avoiding?

I think my favorites are Rappan Athuk, Demons and Devils, and the Tomb of Abysthor. All are old fashion dungeon delving at their finest--and I likes me some good old fashion dungeon delving. I've run all three and had a blast. I go still go back to them when I want to get into a good mood for...

    Terrain Accessories - Doors

I use D&D Dungeon Tiles almost exclusively now (with my Tact-Tiles nearby for things the tiles just can't handle). For doors I use Dwarven Forge doors. They are some of the best stand-up doors I've ever found. I don't think they sell them as stand-alones on their web site (though they should)...

    10:1 illegal downloads

Not at all, Steve is fine. My wife calls me Steve...so I don't have a problem with it. Just don't call me Steve the Pirate. LOL. I like Greg. He's a good guy. I sure as hell don't want his job. B-)
