    So, what did I miss?

Thanks for that Pants. I don't know anything about Warcraft beyond the regular chat about it between some of my players, but I don't have much involvement with computer games at all really. Now to go and check out some reviews and see what takes my fancy.

How many sessions do you give a new game?

3 sessions. It gives the group and I time to get the hang of the mechanics, and setting. Besides that, if we've put three sessions into something and it's not working for us, then that's time enough to spend on something un-fun.

    Non-random D&D Miniatures

When I decided to finally start using minis in my D&D games I dropped £100 on DDM, and ended up with a pretty poor selection of critters- most of them were humans, elves, orcs and other such minis that I can get anywhere easily. What I want is a source for the likes of Illithids, Beholders...

    Paladins: Why are they balanced?

Paladins are more powerful than the average guy- compare them to Warriors, Experts and such. They just tend to hang around with guys who can rework reality itself to suit their every whim, mighty barbarian heroes, masters of combat in all it's forms and other PC types.

What are your thoughts on ANIME's influence on D&D?

Isn't this like asking about the influence of cinema, books or comics on D&D? Anime is a medium, not a genre and hasn't had any particular influence on D&D that I can discern. If I did want to game in an 'anime style', assuming for a moment that there is such a thing, then I'd go with BESM or...

How Long (in game) do your dungeon crawls last?

The dungeons in the Age of Worms have been quite lengthy so far- especially the temples in 3FoE. That said, I actually like running big dungeon crawls, and my players enjoy 'em too. I think the largest was one I ran in 2nd edition- Doomdark Dungeon, which was 9 levels and took 7 sessions to...

    So, what did I miss?

Hallo again all. It's been a good long while since I last visited these here parts, mostly because I've not been playing D&D for a long time. I've kept up with some stuff- mainly Dragon and Dungeon, which is why I'm actually running D&D again. The Age of Worms AP reminded me of why I loved D&D...

WotC setting search winner - Eberron

Well said Meepo. And just out of curiousity, has anyone considered we could be seeing something like Perdido Street Station here? It's certainly what popped into my mind. Just picture it- huge industrialised cities, ancient ruins beneath them that were once the palaces and temples of older...

Dungeon vs. Polyhedron - Death Match

I couldn't honestly choose if I had to. IMO neither of the mags is sufficient to stand alone- that's the reason I had stopped buying Dungeon, and let my Poly go back in the day. But together..it just feels right to me. Looks like I'm a minority though. ;)

What is your current campaign like?

Okay, let's see...Forgotten Realms campaign, average level 9. 8 PCs. At present the party are running around Faerun searching for a way to stop the approaching storm of Violet Rain (See the BoVD) which will be pretty much permanent. The villain bringing this nastiness to the world is an...

Iron DM - did I miss it?

Excuse my feeble, lurker questions, but what's Iron DM?

    Flying off the shelves!

We had a LGS..nothing F about it at all- especially their habit of refusing to order books for customers because they weren't White Wolf or Games Workshop..strange people. Now they sell GW stuff and RC cars etc..along with BB guns. So, no longer is there a local place for us- but one of my buds...

    Orcus [Ghostwalk]

Or for the best of both worlds, take the nicely done stats and background stuff from both books and use em all- one is Orcus, the other just an avatar. Which is which is up to you.

Does anyone know this European rpg?

Very nice looking game- but the Swedes tend to go that extra mile for gaming goodness. Take a look at the past success stories; Kult, Mutant Chronicles and Gemini, all fantastic, all sat on my gaming shelf. Good stuff.

New Cthulhu Setting a Good Idea?

Yet more cash I have to spend..sigh. I'm also quite chuffed that the game will be using BRP rather than D20- it's the way Cthulhu should be played IMO, with PCs constantly fearing death and madness, rather than trying foolish heroics. But that's just IMO of course.

    Would you buy this?

I'd likely snap up certain encounter areas in a heartbeat- especially say the shrines of Orcus from RA, or the final battle scene in The Longest Night, but only as dioramas. Hate using miniatures in game, but having a nicely painted display piece as ornamentation? That I like.

FR: Help with a new character...

The wise course of action is to keep the ECL as written. You'd be surprised how many darkness spells the party will throw dow so their new buddy can whoop some @$$. Trust me on this..my NPCs still bear the scars ;)

    LG cleric in Skullport

The best way to keep them from going all 'vengeance crazy' in Skullport is to point out the local businessmen. Since most of the drug, slave and 'other' trade in Skullport is run by Beholders, Illithids and Drow I would guess two little LG PCs might not fare too well in the end if they don't...
