Quite often my D&D group will have a diceless session, usually when they're trying to figure out the latest plot, or want to relax after saving the world (again). It can be a refreshing change..so long as it isn't to frequent..but Vampires? Chit-chatting? That really is part of the whole WoD...

Hey Larry, I know how you feel. I played Amber for a little while as a naive young dice slinger...dear lords of the Abyss, that game sucks. But think for a moment about how much you really hate it. Go on, just for a moment- I hate Vampire about 10 times more than that.

Hunter: The Reckoning, until Buffy and D20 Modern came out. I do like some ideas presented in the WoD, but hate the Storyteller system with a vengeance.

I like to see worlds that can handle truly epic plots and campaigns, but also the starting out, low level advantures as well. Mix in a love of high magic and dngeoneering and what do you get? The Realms in all their glory. FR suits my style and tastes down to the ground.

My vote is a tie between the oh-so overwrought Vampire which just tries to damn hard to be hip and cool, and SenZar- which I actually ran in a moment of madness. Dear lord, you have never seen munchkinism until you've read and played SenZar. Role playing for the next millenium? My @$$.

Seems to me that the growing number of 'niche' products is a response to the growing D20 marketplace. The more companies there are out there, the more specialised the individual companies are going to get just so they can stay in business.
