    When D&D Was a Toy

I had the three booklets at one point, as well as the infamous box (it might have been blue, but as I got that in the late 70s, I can't say for sure), but our group preferred using the AD&D books which were still new at that time when we really started gaming a lot.

Pathfinder 2: How Do Conditions Work?

It does seem rather obtuse, but it's still an improvement over the others. The Pathfinder Beginners Box shows 14 conditions. The Pathfinder GM Screen shows 16 conditions. The Pathfinder Core Book has 32 conditions. The Starfinder Core Book has 35 conditions. So 10+ a catchall category isn't...

Talking With Steve Jackson About The Fantasy Trip

I loved TFT back in the 80s. Kind of got swamped in other games and in the 90s only some rare grognards even knew what TFT was. My two favorite creatures are from TFT. The Am-Bush, a plant that throws explosive seedpods to kill interlopers so they become fertilizer for it. The Piranhakeet...

    Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Combat Preview

LoL, I was going to mention that exact thing. Also the latest edition (Deluxe Tunnels & Trolls) also has spite, so for every 6 you rolled on the dice (all d6), you also do a point of damage to the opponent that can't be stopped, even if you lost the combat roll.

RPG Crowdfunding News 097: Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells, Palace of the Dragon’s Princess, The Overwo

That's an awesome thing to do, though I do want to try to get into the kickstarter. It's just a financial timing issue thing I have to deal with. Very glad you thought about the other options. Additionally, I'm a big fan of scifi, so that's bonus points for me, and tend to collect games...

Looking At The Pathfinder 2 Wizard Class

LoL B-) Gandalf was far better than that, he's fought with a staff in one hand, and a sword in the other. Lets see any D&D mage/wizard that can pull that off! Also he kept up with the warriors like that, so he also has better to hits, and all that than the D&D spellchucker.

RPG Crowdfunding News 097: Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells, Palace of the Dragon’s Princess, The Overwo

Thanks for the reply. Ask me to b.s. my way past someone, and I'll either fail, get punched, or arrested. Verbal interactions and the like are not my forte. (I'm not so great at writing either) I've been in a lot of games where they actually expect you to go through the entire conversation...

RPG Crowdfunding News 097: Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells, Palace of the Dragon’s Princess, The Overwo

Yeah, and they just tend to do that for the social stuff. When has a GM ever required a Player to overhaul an engine when their character has to do it, or actually shoot a moving target when their character is in combat? They don't. They have them use their Characters skills. But for some...

    Mythological Figures: Coyote (5E)

There are many stories about Coyote helping mankind, even when the others would not. From the tribal stories I've heard, there is more veneration of Coyote in the west than the east, but that just could be bad luck from only having heard about 30 stories. Some of the things he's credited...

Is It Worth Printing Your Own Miniatures?

3d home printing is still in the very early adopter phase, even though it's trying to push for mainstream. The option of being able to build your very own "custom" model is a very attractive option for a lot of people. Of course, costs per model change quite a bit when you try to compare them...

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

So why did you make a totally unnecessary reply that comes across as you being a complete jerk? Please refrain from such actions in the future. Just to prevent getting into a stupid war of words since I can be rather defensive at times, I am blocking you, just so you know.

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

Touch AC was created so mages, who's attacks totally suck, could ignore foes armor and at least have a chance for their touch spells to actually work. I'm not so sure reversing that, even if not completely, is such a good idea.

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

Thanks for the update. Last time I looked I could have sworn they were asking $9 and change for the pdf.

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

Twin: I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that dual weapons doesn't give you extra attacks anymore, and twin weapons are the way to get the best damage with two weapons. Of course, it could be that they haven't changed fighting with two weapons, except to add twin weapons which are...

40 Years of Games Workshop Stores!

Well crud! Oh well, bit late now. A friend and myself tried to figure the route, and on the map we couldn't find anything going out there, and like I mentioned, calling the store didn't get me good directions. Thanks for mentioning that anyway. One of these years I'd love to visit again even...

40 Years of Games Workshop Stores!

Lol, in the 80s there was a really active player base for Killer around here. We didn't use the no witnesses thing, but we did use the no collateral damage rules, so explosives were really restricted. We also allowed 2 safe zones for each player. Most people make home and work, or home and...

40 Years of Games Workshop Stores!

I remember going out to the store in Hammersmith in the 80s. It was a bit of a trek as there wasn't a tube station close, and I couldn't find a bus that came close either for some reason. (There was a bus route war going on at the time that might have been a reason for it.) The worst part was...

Let's Take A Look At Pathfinder 2's Deities & Domains!

Having two radically different spell systems (Vancian and Spell Points) can be an issue with games since it complicates things. Having both on a single character tends to get really messy, really fast. (Varies by player and GM) That little apparent reveal in the Deities & Domains preview has me...

[PF2] Cleric class preview + spells per level

Even in 1st edition, the clerics were supposed to be following the gods rules, but since it wasn't specifically listed, most didn't do so. The Paladins code was more explicitly stated though vauge, so I've seen plenty of games where the Paladins got away with almost anything. Then again, I've...
