Anybody ever played a post apocalypse game?

Do a search for Mutant Future.

Anybody ever played a post apocalypse game?

In my my last FR campaign I was building towards an apocalyptic type of event. I was planning on dumping the Dragonstar Empire onto Faerun. Sadly the game ended before I could pull it off.

Anybody ever played a post apocalypse game?

GW is my second love as well. I own all of the editions though the 4th is my favorite. Who needs to 'bring it back'? Pick up a copy of the 4th edition and you can game forever. Another that I like is the second edition of After the Bomb, though the Palladium system sucks. I own every PA RPG I...

What Makes One System Better Than Another?

I agree with Wombat here. I own every edition of Gamma World ever printed. But for me the best 'fit' is the 4th edition. It just seems to capture the feel I am looking for. The others are decent settings. But the fourth marries setting and system together the best.

    Sleeper RPG's

The one that has had the biggest impact on me is one I discovered quite recently: Everstone (Blood Legacy). Possible the best version of the D20 (3.5) system I have ever encountered. Sadly it seems to have been released around the same time as Eberron. Which of course buried it... If you are a...

Buck Rogers XXVc wasn't that bad a game.

I thought it was a fun game. I've given it a reread ot two over the years and it always makes me smile. I think the new Savage Worlds setting Slipstream might make a good Buck Rogers game.

Wand of healing: Everybody pitch in?

If it benefits the group as a whole, it gets paid for by the group as a whole. Example: I don't require my wife to buy her own food. We buy communal food. Even though there will be food items I do not eat.

    Siangham real!

I think a better approach is to mechanically keep the monk weapon stats but completely change the fluff. One Bludgeoning, one Piercing and one Slashing weapon that does 1d6 x20 and can be used with the Flurry of Blows. But the actual weapon design would vary from martial arts school to martial...

    d20 BESM: Everstone Companion

Ok, I finished looking at BESM D20. It fell short of what I wanted. I guess I was comparing it to Everstone. It didn't fare well in that comparison. It seems to have not gone far enough. Though I'm sure you could use it to run an anime game. I don't have the other version of BESM to compare it...

    d20 BESM: Everstone Companion

I'm reading BESM D20 at the moment. So far I like it. But not as much as the Everstone take on the D20 system.

    Anyone still playing Dawning Star?

I was completely unaware of game Geeks on YouTube. Thank you for the link. I also highly recommend Dawning Star, an awesome D20 based hard SF game.

What has been your longest running campaign?

Mine was a 1E campaign that lasted six years. I took a 1st level Ranger and worked him up to a 26th level Ranger Lord. I still have his custom portrait on my office wall.

    4E & Gamma World

The only '4E' I need in my Gamma World came out in 1992. :) But seriously, 4th edition GW is D20 based and a complete game in one volume. It is always my 'go to' edition of the game. Though I admit that Darwin's World is very good.

Sadly, paying medical and credit card bills.

Gamma World PDFs (looking for legal buys)

WotC failed to give their customers what they want? I'm shocked.

What would you have had them do?

I would have preferred option A. End the run of D&D with the best set of rules that was ever done for that system, 3.5. If they had their hearts set on a new tactical miniatures game with a fantasy slant, such as 4E, then start up an entirely new line. Calling 4E the fourth edition of D&D is...

What Did You Want Fourth Edition to be Like?

I've been playing D&D since 1978, so I guess that makes me a grognard. And proudly so. I see 3.5 as D&D done right. It needed a few tweaks but it got as close to 'perfect' as any rules system I have ever read. And I have read a lot of rules systems. I look forward to the final version of...

    D&D Insider: Losing your toys

I shop at thrift stores a great deal. Also flea markets and yard sales. There is a local used book store near me that has thousands of books in the $3 price range. In addition my grocery store takes in donated books and sells them to earn money for charity, at a $1 each. And lastly my city...

    D&D Insider: Losing your toys

I tip a server because of their performance at their assigned task. I have a AAA membership as a form of insurance. They gamble I won't need their services, I gamble that I will. HBO provides an entertainment service on a monthly basis. If they sold DVDs that ceased to work after a month (DIVX...
