    MPD Character

Here's an interesting, if hypothetical, question for all you DM's here. How would you handle a player who wanted his character to have multiple different personalities, each with their own abilities and strengths? Here are my thoughts. Mental ability scores change to reflect the new...

    Paladin of...

OK, what are some good, but unusual choices for a deity for a Paladin? I'm talking beyond Heironeous, Pelor, St. Cuthbert, and so forth. What would they stand for, and how would be a good way to play them? I think Paladin's are only allowed to venerate deities that accept LG clerics, so we'll...

    Banish

OK, this is a spell I came up with while thinking up the culture for a particular character I wrote up. This was a side thing that isn't really tied to him at the moment, though he may learn it when he gets to a high enough level to cast it. The name is similar to Banishment, but it's effect...

    Power-based stories

OK, is anyone else as disappointed about the preview we've had about 4th as I was? They seem to have cut out a lot of good story-stuff, as well as stuff that is not massively overpowered, and have brought in a lot of stuff that is way too powerful for core stuff *cough*Dragonborn!*cough, cough*...

    Barbarians are a race...

Well, First ed used Barbarian as a race that could be any combat-oriented class (Paladin, Ranger, Fighter, etc), and the only difference was that they would fly into a rage when fighting.

    The Dashing Swordsman

Well, this class was designed for Bards, but Bards really don't get much in the way of spellcasting. This was designed for people who 'have more Charisma than Strength or Dex.' Perhaps dropping the Perform prereq would be good, but it is to Charisma what the Duelist or Swashbuckler are to Dex.

    Duskblade Build Help

Yes, but the elves don't trust or like the Sharakim either, thinking 'an orc in fancy clothes is still an orc'. But your point is valid, about the possibility of a Sharakim learning of Elven techniques through watching the elves, humans and half-elves who utilize their powers. Possibly they...

    Duskblade Build Help

Actually, I just found a race that would do extremely well as a Duskblade. The Sharakim. The big issue is how a Sharakim became a duskblade, because the class, as listed in the PHBII is largely of Elven origins, and Sharakim look almost identical to Orcs. The big difference, while Orcs are...

    The Dashing Swordsman

...Actually, I just reread the page where it introduces the Dashing Swordsman class in the comic for Order of the Stick, and the guy who introduces it says "It's a Prestige class, and one I have [b]ten[/i] levels in," so I need to flesh it out at least another five levels. Oi, that's gonna be...

    Runaway Prince

Well, my eventual idea for this character is for him to be a tank that gets as many people as possible to try and hit him, rather than the rest of the party. I would have given him a suit of full plate, but that's a bit pricey for first level. Mechanically, I want to be a guard/protector...

    Duskblade Build Help

Strangely enough, no they don't. As for the DB build, I would also recommend Eschew Materials, since Duskblades need spell components just the way other casting classes do. The various Metamagic feats are nice as well, though less useful when you only get up to fifth level spells. There's...

    Runaway Prince

OK, here's a character I'm wanting to find a campaign for. Don't have some of the detail stuff worked out, but I'll smooth that over once I get a world for him to be in and all. Right now, I'm just wanting critiques on the character concept and any tweaking I can do to the build to get it to...

    Help Build Cleric of Healing...

Or, if you're willing to go into a completely different class that's focused exclusively on healing, I would say the Healer class, from the Miniatures Handbook. Just about Sorcerer level spell-progression, tons of healing-related special abilities, Cleric Hit die, BAB and skills, and a Unicorn...

How can my 12th sorcerer get acid for his Acid Rain Spell?

Or you could take Material Substitution. Custom feat I made, where you can make a Spellcraft check, then (assuming you succeed) you can use anything in place of any moderatly costly material component (moderately being less than 1000 GP). Only downside is that you take a -2 effective caster level.

    Archivist opinions?

Only thing I find somewhat irritating about them is the limitations on their Dark Knowledge. You have to take at least two feats if you want to get rid of those. Even with those feats, you still can't use it on Humanoids or Monstrous Humanoids.

How can my 12th sorcerer get acid for his Acid Rain Spell?

What book is Acid Rain from? It's not in the core books, as far as I've seen. Only 'Acid' spells are Acid Fog and Acid Splash, with Acid Splash not needing any material components, and Acid Fog needing a pinch of dried, powdered peas combined with powdered animal hoof.

    Archivist opinions?

Hey, I've been looking at the Archivist listed in the Heros of Horror book, and I quite like it. Basically, it's a combination of the Cleric and the Wizard, casting Divine spells from a Prayerbook that they study every day. They also have almost no dead levels, though most of what they get are...

    The Dashing Swordsman

For classes that give ability boosts, look no further than the Dragon Disciple in the DMG. At fourth level their Str gets +2, at 6th level their Con gets +2, and at 8th level their Int gets +2. Also, I edited the opening post to include a minimum Cha requirement to become a Dashing Swordsman...
