Having stepped away from it for a day, I agree. I think transcribing conversations into verse would be even more forced.
Thanks to everyone who responded :)
I'm about to start my second campaign in the same world. If the characters journey to Frostmoot they will likely hear of the band of heroes who stopped the zombie apocalypse.
I think that is what I'll do-bookend each entry. The players like their introductions, so the first post will be mostly verse, but other than that I think I'll try to keep it to a few lines at the beginning and end of each post.
I'm attempting to write the next chapter of my Chronicles of Essenon in a faux epic style. What I would like to do (since it is a lot of work making each line 12 syllables) is to find out if it is a readable style or if I should just continue in regular prose.
The Saga of Brock Magnusson...
In my zombie apocalypse adventure the PCs were VERY scared of the zombies for quite a while even after they could kill dozens without breaking a sweat. This was achieved by the simple tactic of a fight attracting more zombies. Nearly every round more would show up. Throughout the entire...
1-I hate naming NPCs. We have a guy that has shown up quite a few times in our zombie apocalypse adventure but is still called The Magistrate.
2-New players. I often have to stop and realize that I'm going beyond my players' capabilities. None have played much before our current game.
I don't think it is an either/or situation. I try to let the players go wherever they want to, and I'll have an adventure waiting for them when they get there. I try to make them think though, and if they play stupid during a fight they may very well not survive.
#1 would be great and won my vote, but since most players are not me it might not work. Perhaps try it as a single adventure first to see how it goes.
#2 could also be fun. I like the idea of a giant scavenger hunt. That or have rules that prohibit killing all of your opponents. Of course all...
“Of course,” Cliona says, “we are fighting a necromancer…”
With a mighty blow the undead dragon ogre knocks Dramus across the room. Fraup rushes to heal him as the rest of the group engages the enemy. Bogart single-handedly defends the staircase, absorbing blow after blow. Eventually the party...
My first thought was 'start an inquisition' upon seeing the thread title.
I've always loved using low-level spells (like Silence) to mess up my players' plans myself.
Oddly enough this thread just now brought to my mind the number of rules I've messed with.
Bonus feat for number of levels in same class instead of xp penalty.
If a skill is a class skill for any of your classes you may always buy ranks as if it were a class skill.
Feat every level but few magic...
