    Best 3E era monsters?

Before. Planescape got the idea from Gamma World. In fact, the Planescape Monstrous Compendium Appendix II said that they came from the Material Plane originally, so I assume they emigrated from Gamma Terra to the Gray Waste in-game as well as metagame. They look different, though. terls were...

Fiendish Codex II next month--Any scoop/rumors/etc.?

Chemosh is lawful evil in all editions of the game. Not all gods match the alignment of the plane in which they dwell. Takhisis' realm in Baator is called Abthalom.

    Best 3E era monsters?

Redcaps were in Tall Tales From the Wee Folk, a 0E Mystara expansion. They were presented as evil brownies. They also appeared in Dragon #158, I think, as evil leprechauns. Some of the fire/ice monsters in the Epic Level Handbook were from Return to the Tomb of Horrors, I hear.

    Does this setting exist?

The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer has virtually no rules content. It's all setting.

So they do mention Ancient Baatorians!

    OOTS 386 is up.

Of course, the implication is that Haley was saying the same thing everyone else was saying, but it's amusing that we could equally translate her line as any other four-letter word made up of four different letters. ELAN??? THOG??? WHAM??? CRAP??? Thog's presence may indeed have been part of...

    Fiendish Lore (the other fiends)

There's another rakshasa type, the naityan from Tome of Battle. But I already added them to their Wikipedia article months ago. Tome of Battle also gave us the reth dekala, natives of Acheron obsessed with fulfilling an ancient pact that required them to kill all their living, mortal descendants.

    OotS #385 is up

I notice Belkar's song has mutated, probably because nobody knows very much of the lyrics of "Meet Me in St. Louis." I googled them, and boy - that really wasn't worth the effort.

    What's up with Scottish Dwarves?!?

The first reference I saw to a dwarf priest of Thor was in 2e Legends & Lore, which spoke briefly about gods that would be appropriate for various races. Thor was cited as a god for dwarves not because he liked them in real mythology, but because his interests - including drinking hard, wearing...

Fiendish Codex II next month--Any scoop/rumors/etc.?

No, she's primarily (as in, originally) a generic goddess. She didn't appear in the FR book Drow of the Underdark, but appeared later on (and for the first time) in the generic book Monster Mythology. Dead Gods cemented her place on Oerth and the Vault of the Drow there, but she didn't take on a...

    D&D 4E Default setting for 4E?

D&D is Greyhawk. The spells, magic items, and artifacts are named for Greyhawk characters and deities. The generic D&D dwarves are Greyhawk dwarves (hill, mountain, etc.), not Forgotten Realms dwarves (shield, gold, etc.). The generic D&D elves are Greyhawk elves (gray, high, etc.), not...

Fiendish Codex II next month--Any scoop/rumors/etc.?

I think it was deliberate, actually. "Malebranche" was a perfectly good name that was going unused (because cornugons were just cornugons), so they invented a new caste to fit it. I like the 3e malebranche, and I'm quite satisfied with the compromise.

These are new: Assassin Devil (Dogai) - CR 11 - Skilled killers. Ayperobos Swarm - CR 12 - A swarm of Diminutive devils. Harvester Devil (Falxugon) - CR 7 - Seductive schemers. Hellfire Engine - CR 19 - Artillery used in the Blood War. Kalabon - CR 1/2 - Devils spawned from the carcass of the...

Better than nothing. In 2e, Furcas was also an original member of the Eight. Has he recently died? No, it originally appeared in the 3.0 Monster Manual II.

    Where are the angels?

Oh, I'm not saying they're not the names of real demons - of course they are. I'm just saying that they used names that weren't so loaded as "Satan" and "Beelzebub." Particularly in the first Monster Manual: Asmodeus, Baalzebul, Geryon, and Dispater aren't as integral to the Christian cosmology...

    Canon Sigil Material

I think it would be useful to include the streets and buildings from Planescape: Torment, too. You can find the maps on the internet, here and there. The Dragon Magazine Annual #1 had an article called "A Handful of Keys" which named every building mentioned in Sigil and Beyond, In the Cage...

    Where are the angels?

All three devas, as well as solars and planetars, were in 1st edition, but I don't know that it's fair to say there was no political correctness in those days. After all, there was a reason they used Asmodeus instead of Satan, and Baalzebul instead of Beelzebub.
