I would also suggest taking only 3 levels of Hexblade, then 2 levels of rogue (sneak attack, evasion, plus boatload o' skills) and 2 levels of fighter (for bonus feats).

It seems that many favour the Goliath race...and this is a race that I discounted when I first looked at the class. Forgotten that Half-Ogres got the shaft (or corrected)...in hindsight, Goliath looks to be a much better race after this correction...heh. I'll first look at that Illumian (sp?)...

My DM is not going RAW with the xp table when it comes to LA +1 race (same progression as LA +0)...playing a dwarf with bunch of LA +1s, I decided it was high time for me to change into another race (LA +1 of course) when this became apparent. Any suggestion for LA +1 race that has a fighter...

Hmmm...since the age of 5? been reading too many glorified ninja books haven't you? if going historically, a 3rd edition rogue just may out-fight and out-ninja the ninja. the perception of how well a ninja should perform differs from ppl to ppl i guess. :D

Not a bad idea...In such a case though, the barbarian/monk better start out as a monk and go non-lawful thus becoming an ex-monk so that he may join the barbarian class.

I do understand that you always, or almost always, need a back-up option/plan in order to come out a winner in the race for survival. However, the primary option for grapplers as it stands looks bleak when compared to most run of the mill adventurer's styles. Seems grapplers were doomed to...

grapplers seem decent at low levels to mid levels but once he/she faces big bad beasts with monsterous grapple checks and/or creature with access to freedom of movement, his career looks grim at best. how can a 20th level fighter who focuses on grappling survive in such a world?!? :confused:

I would have to agree with the above poster that finessed fighter in general (as in 3rd edition and d20) do not work very well as a primary fighter: as a second string warrior he is excellent or at least adequate. I wish there is a class/Pclass out there that would place the finessed fighter up...

I agree with you, but it would be like you said, a personal preference and ruling.

guess what? the player is willing to cast it every few weeks. and by the way, since i am not DMing this particular campaign i do not know the specifics of his enhancement bonus distribution...i am just going by what the druid's player claimed when he stated to me +4 shield bonus +5 enhancement...
