Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

of course! but beating someone silly is not a pretty thing to do. If you don't describe how and what you do, you'll lose some of that nastiness. Not that that nastiness is something nice, but IMHO it is essential to get a good feel for the game (btw this holds not only for nasty things, also...

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

Sorry, missed that bit! :) He was pinned by my brother during the time I "subdued" him, so I guess he was only helpless in retrospect. Those are the really vile kinds of group that were descibed in the BoVD ;) :p ;)

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

Here I must protest! It is NOT less brutal to whack somebody unconscious with a weapon than it is to do it with your hands or feet. We clearly stated our intentions to the bard and to the DM, who ruled that, in order to get the guy unconscious, we should use unarmed attacks.

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

Especially in these kinds of moral dillemma it can be useful to further explain an alignment. Don't simply focus on the two letter alignment, but on the description I gave of the morality of the character. IMHO that describes the characters morality as I (try to) play in during the sessions. In...

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

According to the bard, we could have tied him up without kicking him unconscious. My argument was that that was indeed a possibility, but considered the offender might have been a Fire Knives assassin, not too wise.

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

OK, one more thing about my character being LE. It is more of a LN kind of LE. He is to evil for being neutral, but he is not evil-evil in the villain sense of the word. The character wouldn't object to torture, murder etc. if it serves a function. He dislikes these kinds of things, but when...

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

very true! that's why my brother an I (in the game, not my real brother) are plotting to kill that bard, without taking the blame. A problem we have is that he is immensely popular in the whole of Suzail (he keeps on rolling perfomance checks of 25+ )

Campaigns you hope to run someday before you die

Hey, Thanks! :D I have toyed with the idea of having them survive. But realistically, I think only one or two of them would survive in the world I have in plan. A crucial step of the first part is that they are not heroes, but survivers. (and besides, I hate the idea of some of them...

Is kicking a helpless offender unconscious brutal?

Again a morality topic on the use of violence The situation is as follows: We knew we were being hunted by a Fire Knife assassin. Our characters knew that that is a really bad thing. We were in a shop when suddenly the door opens, and a basket gets thrown in. Speedy as my character is, he...

    Was this wrong?

Looking at your alignment, I would say it is no problem. You distrusted the guy, wanted to take revenge, did not want to bother with bringing him to trial properly, lots of possibilities to act the way you did. We had a similar incident lately, which I'll post in a new TOPIC . (I don't want...

Campaigns you hope to run someday before you die

Probably not a new idea. I'd like the players to play themselves, as they are in the world as we know it. The campaign would begin with the players playing a DnD session. Then the proverbial faeces hit the fan. A major catastrophy has broken out. TV and Radio work for another 3 or 4 hours...

    Player's Favorite Sayings?

"eeejj, alles goed?" (meaning "Hi, everything allright?") Spoken in with a sarcastic tone. This comes from an evil nobleman PC in our group who had the nasty habit of torturing people (NPCs) to get the information from them. He used to beat them to pieces, leave for a few minutes, with a...
