    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

    Wow... just... wow... :uhoh:

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

I hope that, after 4e comes out, the Character Optimisation boards do not become filled with such terms as "Brutal Strike Fighter" and "Positioning Strike Rogue", like the WoW forums of today. Heck, if I see people slagging others about their 'spec' I might just crack.

I think Barbarians should be strikers, or maybe even controllers

I really do not like the idea of a Druid being capable of fulfilling more than one role in a fashion equal to another class, purely cause that'll make the Druid unnecessarily complex. But that's not what this topic is about. I don't see the Barbarian being a Striker. Yes, he should be able to...

The Runecarved Eidolon - Weird monster

That actually seems like the best tactic to beat it... the Eidolon has an absolutely puny Reflex defence :\ 16? For a level 13 monster? Rubbish!

The Runecarved Eidolon - Weird monster

Oh... didn't notice that. :\ Well, now he looks even more of a nasty piece of work! Love it :]

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

Well, they are Strikers. If they weren't atleast trying to make the damage of other classes look bad everyone would be a Fighter (except for that one guy who always rolls Wizard).

The Runecarved Eidolon - Weird monster

I didn't say it was an encounter ability, I just said it's only going to be used once - to use it Divine Beacon has to be active, and once it uses Divine Retribution (an attack), it cannot use Divine Beacon again. Thus, it can only use it once.

The Runecarved Eidolon - Weird monster

Here is the culprit in question for this thread: This is taken from this thread here. Therein you shall find the mysteries to the discovery of this weird beast. Now, I realise this is someone copying from the back of a DDM card, so these are not the clearest stats, but is this not the...

    Damage Scaling

Seeing as the Rogue powers in the preview on the WotC site explicitly mention the power increasing in damage at 21st level (I think this was the case for both the at-wil powers shown) I doubt you'll be switching out powers at higher levels. Magic Missile will probably go up from 1d10 to 2d10...

D&D 4E Release dates for 4e (yep, I've been living in a cave)

From what I've seen the preview book (Keep on the Shadowfell) comes out on May 20th, and the three core rulebooks come out on June 6th. Atleast, that's what Amazon says.

New Monster Stats (Dungeons of Dread)

Actually, he can do it if he moves - the Divine Beacon ability ends when the Eidolon attacks, so it could technically wander around, dispensing Retributions until it's the only thing left and needs to attack. It'd be rather difficult to have the party Rogue (who I'd assume has the highest...

New Monster Stats (Dungeons of Dread)

That runecarved Eidolon actually looks quite overpowered... It can, seemingly at will, immediately hit you for 3d8 +4 radiant damage whenever you attack it or kill an ally? I notice that it looks quite easy to kill, though, with its low defences and HP (for a level 13 they seem low, atleast)...

I think Barbarians should be strikers, or maybe even controllers

I think the Barbarian could function perfectly well as a Defender. I'd imagine he'd probably have some kind of staying-alive power, sort of like Shifter Ferocity (or whatever it was called) in 3.5, that let the Shifter continue clawing people apart even at negative hp. It'd probably be some...

Implication of choosing powers from another class's list

On the character sheets I have it does say Ray of Frost is at-will, but it's under Encounter powers, so I assume that's what's more important. I imagine the way this will work in 4th is that you take the Class Training feat to choose a power and it's 'demoted', so an at-will power becomes a...
