    I think you should think about the level of the spells. The Hammer is very powerful for a first level spell. And the Ward spells seems alittle much for level one as well.

    Puzzle

    Well if your players are younger an easier puzzle is "You see a string of letter OTTFFSS. Whate letter comes next." It is from the Red D&D box or at least that is were I remember it from. I mean if your players are older then more than likely they have seen that one around.
