    D&D 4E DnD 4E DOA?

Unless there's a conspiracy I'm not privy to, I think all the chatter about a possible 4th edition is coming from gamers, not WotC. IMHO, 3.5 was not shipped "broken" just so WotC could "fix" it with 4.0. As Monte Cook suggested, 3.5 was driven in part by WotC's desire to create more buzz and...

    WotC D&D Fonts

Free Caslon 540 or similar clone. Anyone....anyone? I'm not going to spend real money just to get an "official" looking font for my house rules.

    WotC D&D Fonts

Pterra is not quite it. The font has too many pointy bits. Caslon 540 is the closest I've seen to D&D font but I can't find a free version of it. Thanks to all.

Are the fonts used in WotC D&D publications available for download anywhere?

What does you House Rules document look like?

My house rules are a Word Doc: Aggressive Attack: attacker gains +2 bonus to all melee attack rolls made during his turn but suffers a -4 penalty to his armor class for one full round. Surprise Attack: An attacker who catches his opponent by surprise (see DMG p. 23), gains a +2 circumstance...

    DM's: Highest Level Campaign?

As a DM, I've found that things start bogging down after 10th level. The prep time for sessions gets impossibly long and it gets much harder whip up encounters on the fly. Balancing adventure also gets a lot more dicy. I've also found that most players can or don't want to manage high level...

    Victorian Era Inspiration

With d20 Past release fast approaching, I'm gearing up to run a quasi-historical "Victorian Adventures on the Lost Continent" campaign. Any good websites out there on the following topics: Victorian Age Britain, The Wars of Empire, The European Colonial experience, late 19th century weapons and...

    Computers/Laptops at the gaming table?

As DM, I've had players bring laptops to the gaming table and in general I think it detracts from the game. Anytime there is a pause in the action, players tend to start web surfing (host's house is rigged for WiFi) or playing minesweeper and the like. One recent session, one player started...

    New Class: Stone Wizard (Moved)

I intended the Stone Wizard to be very specialized, he gives up a lot to be very very useful in certain environments (i.e. underground) I've been playing a Stone Wizard (5th level now) and I'm happy with the way its working. Thanks for the feedback.

    D&D stats for Shrek

Krieg: The Barbarian level was mainly to get fast movement (Shrek is able to outrun lots of people and things.) Plus he does seem to get stronger when he's mad (Rage?).

    D&D stats for Shrek

Whiz: Shrek seems very good at avoiding attacks. He doesn't roll with the punches, they miss him altogether.

    Understanding Alignments?

D&D alignments are needlessly confusing. They create confusion and uncertainity but add nothing to the game. D&D would be no worse without them. I wish 3rd ed. had junked them. Alignments belong in the same heap as percentile strength and racial level caps.

    D&D stats for Shrek

Kluge: In Shrek's fight scenes, he dodges and evades with great skill (hence the levels of Rogue and high Dex) See the Dragon castle and Potion factory scences. As for the high Str, Shrek can toss fully armored knights around with ease (see the "Pro wrestling" scene)

Can Lawful good ever be ruthless?

Forgive me If I give offense but this thread (and countless others like it) highlights the absurdity and pointlessness of the D&D alignment system. Is there anything to be gained - both in terms of roleplaying or rules mechanics - by constantly trying to match up a player's actions with one of...

    D&D stats for Shrek

Diaglo, I think you're selling Shrek a bit short. He's got mad skillz!
