    Holiday Themed Sessions

I just held my 8th annual Halloween game, and I think it went splendidly. I always try to tie in some horror elements with a bit of light-heartedness to make it memorable, as well as doing the decorations and providing a dinner menu that ties in with the adventure's themes. I also ran a...

We have our own server. :) (I got tired of ads on Yahoo and paying for hosting fees...)

What is REALLY best in life?

I said "other," since there comes a time when the jewels cease to sparkle, and the gold loses its luster. ;)

How long have you been a DM?

I know, I know! ;) But I wanted to see if my initial thoughts were in the ballpark, and I haven't seen anything that makes me think I was way off. Basically, I'm seeing that if you are in the 15+ year catagory, you consider yourself a good Dungeon Master. You may humbly state that you've...

How long have you been a DM?

This spawned for me from the Are you a good Dungeon Master? thread, which posed that question. I'm getting the feeling that people who consider themselves good DM's are those that have invested a lot of time (15+ years) in DMing. I know that I would have likely answered the question...

Are you a good Dungeon Master?

As I continue to read this thread, I am starting to get the impression that the longer you DM the more confident you are that you are indeed good at it. Now, this is just what I'm seeing here so far - but the only postings that I am seeing from DM's that think they are good are from those who...

Are you a good Dungeon Master?

I would say that, yes, I a good Dungeon Master. I keep the story moving; work with the players to give them experiences and stories that are appealing, fresh, and fun; and am willing to sacrifice my great and grand storyline when the players do something totally unexpected. I spend many hours...

    Artist Keith Parkinson passes away

I'm at a loss. Keith was my favorite artist, and I'm deeply saddened that the world has lost his talent. A very sad day.

    Tanks and Planes and Guns

I used the Weird Wars setting from Pinnacle games last year for a WWII-based D&D session. Worked quite well. Although a well-placed Fireball generally takes out a Messerschmitt.

    What is your Gaming Music

It depends on the game. For my Call of Cthulhu game set in Cody, Wyoming I've been using Native American dances and flute instrumentals. For my Conan game, I use the Conan soundtrack and similarly themed movies like LotR. For my last "regular" d20 game I used a lot of Apocalyptica.

What kind of hero do you prefer in fantasy/sci-fi? [edited thread]

I find the "Conan" novels just as compelling as reading "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant".

Has the RPG market crashed the $40 product price ceiling?

This isn't really a *new* trend. I seem to recall paying a hefty price for one of the 300 copies of the Call of Cthulhu 'Miskatonic University Library' editions during their 20th anniversary celebration back in 2001. I don't remember the exact figure, but I believe it was $120.
