    2006 ENnies Judge Voting Poll/Thread

Well, in the Judge nomination thread I remember Mixmaster making some comment about his wife, so I would bet he is male. :)

    Halloween........ What'cha doin'?

On the 30th, I'm hosting my 8th Annual Halloween gaming party. This year's theme is an Egyptian Halloween - in honor of the "main" BBEG that the party'll be facing in a Call of Cthulhu/Mutants & Masterminds cross-over game (Nyarlathotep). On Halloween itself, I'll probably chill at home and...

Best Love Songs (and "your" songs)

It would be two songs: Fiona Apple's "Slow Like Honey": You moved like honey in my dream last night Yeah, some old fires were burning You came near to me and you endeared to me But you couldn’t quite discern me Does that scare you? I’ll let you run away But your heart will not oblige you...

Posting a response without reading the other responses

To be honest, I think it's the internet. Nobody matters but the person posting. Everyone else is not worth reading.

The Short and Long-term Effects of Nuclear Fallout on Faerun's Magical Weave

I've done a similar thing before, but took it a step further in a sense by defining it as another "element" type effect, much as you have fire or force effects. You have to do a bit of working adding the definition of radiation effects into the game - i.e. does a Wall of Force stop a radiation...

    The Underlake Chronicles.

From the Tome of Trees... I write these words in hopes that someday my children may better understand who I was and how my legacy came to pass. The Great Mother willing... It was the spring in the common year 924, and I was alone, as I had been the last three months of winter. Comfort was...

    The Underlake Chronicles.

At Plane Sailing's suggestion, these are the stories from the Underlake campaign, running every other Sunday night in Hilliard, Ohio. Our group writes up journal entries for each session individually, so I'm planning on posting a variety of viewpoints as time goes on. The current party...

Why are people so uncomfortable with PvP?

I've played since 1980 myself, and feel much the same way. By the way I've invested a lot of skill points over the year in Spot (since it's a DM class skill), and I totally saw you hiding up in my tree last night Crothian. Better luck next time!!

A question for all the grognards! Help me pick a classic module.

I'll chime in with another vote for N1: Against the Cult of the Reptile God. Not only does it provide a nice base of operations for a starting campaign, it has a nice mystery followed by a short dungeon crawl to the climactic battle. I've used it numerous times as a campaign start myself.

Why are people so uncomfortable with PvP?

That's why I wanted to clear it up. Your experience is certainly valid Crothian. My issue with all of this is that so many people take it upon themselves to dictate that their experience is valid not only for themselves, but in fact is MANDATED as the "correct" experience for gamers...

Why are people so uncomfortable with PvP?

In my situation, the other player and I hadn't discussed the idea beforehand, but once he was presented with the scenario, I remembering wondering to myself if he was going to go along with me. And then he looked at me, grinned, and said "Let's do this!" I took that as an OK. :) Exactly my...

Why are people so uncomfortable with PvP?

Actually, this thread blossomed from my original thread which was about getting XP for "defeating" PCs. Note the key word "defeating." And the purpose of the original thread was to get a better understand of how the XP mechanic works - and that seems to have been lost in all the furor and...

Why are people so uncomfortable with PvP?

No, of course not. Nor would I have been able to accidentally kill him - her intention was to remove his threat, and killing him would only be a similar vulgarity in her eyes. No, the intention was to stop him - as it was, he got the downside of lady luck and went down first. My first...

Why are people so uncomfortable with PvP?

I'll answer this one since I started the original thread on this. The good for the situation was finding a common ground for an uncommon character that I am playing to be a part of the group. I have little use for a stereotypical dark stranger in the tavern or heroes being summoned by the king...
