    would this be evil?

I agree with others above... The DM taking a subdual 'crit' as lethal damage and killing her was a bad call, and I have to question that DM's motive. Was this evil? No. Chaotic? Yes. I t's pretty cut and dried hoenstly (at least to me, everyone has a different opinion of evil to be...

    PC Rest Times/Configurations

Meepo, that's exactly how my players do it!!! It irks me to no end, and thus prompted my post. Any suggestions on how to rectify/change that? I have one player in particular that loves to sit around and annoy the crap out of everyone with his rambling of numbers and trying to plan everything...

    PC Rest Times/Configurations

Yeah, but do they set watches? How long is their rest time? How long does each person watch? How much time do the mages/clerics get for resting and memorization?

    PC Rest Times/Configurations

So here's the scoop.. I've been running D&D games off and on for 15 years or so. I love running, and there used to be almost no stumbling blocks for me.. With 3rd edition, it resparked my interest in learning and keeping players interested. The one thign I have problems with, in any edition or...

The Past & Future of D&D

As a WAG, I would say that there was a spike in sales of the game when 2nd edition was released, just as there has been when the 'not entirely D&D' system of 3E was released. MerricB, I don't entirely follow you here... 3E, while not being a favorite for all old-time gamers, still holds true...

Do you make changes with 3e Rogues?

Henry, invest in AEG's Mercenaries book... It has some really great alternatives to sneak attacks, and some alternative abilities that are really cool.. And their classes are considered 'core' classes, in that they are 1-20 progression, and are not prestige. :)

    God I LOVE NPC Hechmen!!

They're NPCs, of course they don't have anything better to do... Or they wouldn't have that 'N'! ;)

Do you make changes with 3e Rogues?

One of the truly coolest things I like about 3E is the ability for rogues to break the mold. Almost every single one of my characters is a unique concept, as I try to shie away from stereotypical characters. Being able to play a spy, or a tracker, or a bounty hunter, or a thief, or a...

Common mistakes you have made as a player

This one time.. at orc camp... Ok, not orc camp, but still... I once had a character that was a fighter/cavalier (custom prestige based off the original in unearthed arcana)... He was lawful, and challenged to a duel. Little did I know much about duelling. I used a bastard sword, not a pansy...

what do you consider a "good" AC?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha Numion you're evil. :) That's one of the reasons I disallowed it... I can only picture the screams and whines from my group. :)

What is your favourite fantasy sub-genre?

I vote for the naked horseback riding fantasy. Oh, doh this was supposed to be for a fantasy world? Damn. Midgets in tutu's d20!

    Alternative Ranger

I think you need to read it a bit closer. They get bonus feats 1/2 as often. They get d8s for hit dice, not d10s. Their skill points are not as high as rogues, nor is their skill list as diverse. The animal companion is a moot point. They never get powerful enough to make a difference if...

"Speaker in Dreams" is one of the twinkiest adventures ever written

Like I said before... I can't vouch for this particular module, but I have had no problem putting in their other modules... Heart of Nightfang Spire, Lord of the Iron Fortress, The Standing Stone, Bastion of Broken Souls, Forge of Fury... In fact this is one of the only ones I have yet to use...

what do you consider a "good" AC?

If you even put, or allow this item... Which I abjectly refuse to do, even at 15th level. The item unbalances things at lower levels. Hell, to allow the monk to have the minor cloak in my game... I reduced an item he wanted down by 2 plusses. So instead of a 33 ac, he has a 31. Slightly below...

Woburn, MA looking for player... Also have a room open for roommate!

Howdy, My name is Mike, and I currently run a game in Woburn, MA. It's high level currently (15th), and we're planning on hitting 21 or so by campaign end. The plan is to go through the 'official' module series, to see what high level can do, and so everyone can learn the rules. Then we are...

"Speaker in Dreams" is one of the twinkiest adventures ever written

There's a theme here, in the bashing of this module, that I find a little disturbing. Some of them don't follow it, but a majority of them do... If you run a module as 'vanilla' and quoted directly from the book... Of course it will be dull and boring and 'not special'. You need to, as a GM...

what do you consider a "good" AC?

I'm only going to refer to my game in my post I guess, since the whole 'average AC' thing really threw me personally off as a GM. The party I am currently running is 15th level or so. We had a huge debate about average AC's at their level. They argued theirs stunk, and was too low, while I...
