    Wizard losing his spellbook

I'd rule precisely this. They're stuck with whatever they had been preparing when it was lost, until they can either find their book or buy a new one. At that point, I'd let them re-record all their spells into it. I wouldn't want to let them change the spells they had recorded though; that just...

    Intimidate in combat: viable?

Saeviomagy, interesting idea re: Intimidate. I don't have a problem with it in my group, but I'm still halfway tempted to propose this house rule, seeing how (as someone upthread pointed out) Minions (who should be super-duper vulnerable to Intimidating) are immune to Intimidate by RAW...

    Warforged death save bonus

If you're a Warforged Warden, I'd suggest going the alternate round, and drop down saying "I'll BE BACK". :p

    Intimidate in combat: viable?

You said the encounter only gives you a +2 earlier. I'm not sure Flip's point is altered much if you change the description of his at-will power from "roll a 4 or higher" to "roll a 6 or higher". I think the DM should be able to ad-hoc a number because that is what the rules state. I'll...

    Warforged death save bonus

I was about to say this but ... uh ... this. ;) PS: Always good to keep up to date on that there errata! :)

    Intimidate in combat: viable?

Yes, but by the time the fight has progressed to the point that you are intimidating bloodied opponents, they've had time to actually see just how threatening you are. And in many cases, just because they are bloodied is no indication that you are in any way a threat. A wolverine can try to...

    Intimidate in combat: viable?

Hey, look. You asked a question and I provided my answer. Obviously, you feel this is a tactic you should be able to employ with impunity, and that's fine by me. I'm just trying to warn you to check with your DM first. The rules clearly allow him to increase the DC to any amount he deems...

    Warforged death save bonus

I let Wardens in my games (and I have with my Warden as a player) roll twice with Font of Life for their death saving throws. Gives them that little bit of extra chance to stand up and say something sufficiently Warden-y.

    Intimidate in combat: viable?

I have both seen this use of Intimidate in campaigns run by me as a DM, and employed it myself as a player. And while its fine for occasional use, I'd probably step on it if you really used it constantly, for many of the reasons above. Perhaps very important to you is this: Bolded part added...

    Warforged death save bonus

Some monsters can kill you if you fail enough saves.

Is it "metagaming" to remind a player their power works on a miss?

As to the content of this post, I too, call shenanigans. That's just crazy man; I wish I could give you more potent advice. Here is a question I have for everyone though, which is semi-OT. Let's say we're back to the initial question, a player forgets how one power works, or that they have...

D&D 4E Is character death acceptable in 4e? If so, how often?

Hmm, let's see. In my Wednesday night game, I'm playing through the H series of modules (and theoretically the P and E series once we reach the appropriate levels). We've had one complete TPK with no one escaping once, with I don't know how many everyone-but-one-or-two-Ks. I'd reckon close to a...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Adventure Path: How Successful?

+1 here. Long time Dragon/Dungeon subscriber (have stacks of old 2E mags, in fact, including the run up to 3E, as well as the CD compendium of all magazines). When Pathfinder came into play, gave it a chance, but wasn't willing to keep paying when its edition status seemed questionable. With...

    Skill Challenges and Encounter/Daily Powers

I thought of adding this to my last thread re: skill challenges, but the topic is so different I decided to start a new thread instead. So the gist of my question is this: On the basis that a round of checks within a Skill Challenge can denote not just a few seconds, but minutes, hours, or days...

    Aiding Another Skill Challenge

Woo, commentary from some of the heavy hitters over here. I'm honored. :) Stalker, the system I use is pretty close to your Obsidian System, really. I tried to figure out how your system dealth with aiding another but I couldn't find it; I ruled on the spot that aiding another used up your...

    Aiding Another Skill Challenge

How does everyone handle the Aid Another action inside of Skill Challenges? Is it totally free form, with everyone essentially aiding everyone on every check? Does an aiding character lose the ability to make his own check during that "round" of the Skill Challenge? Are there any official rules...

    Ranger twin strike question

Ah yes! Quite right; I forgot the property only applies to the main head. I have been shamed.

    Ranger twin strike question

I'd say it does 1d6 + 1d6 poison per attack. A little strong, but not broken. I'm not sure how it could be interpreted differently; it looks pretty clear cut to me. Anyone able to read it differently? Edit: To be 100% clear here, a twin-striking Ranger would do 1d6+1d6 poison/1d6+1d6 poison. :)

    Bait & Switch

I played in a game once where at the campaign start, the DM gave each of us a small "backstory" explaining how each of us fit into the starting setup. One PC was effectively made into a slave, much to the player's displeasure. She got over it and rolled with it, but the character was drastically...
