    Mapping Software???

Unfortunately, pretty much every piece of software fails the "easy to use" test and I always end up going back to hand drawing maps.

    Gygax Magazine Proposed Contents

Perhaps aptly (given the name of the magazine), the only thing out of listing that interests me are the articles from the Gygaxes. I guess maybe the Michael Curtis adventure, though I think he's mostly been doing DCC RPG lately, which I really don't like.

Tell us about your favourite space RPG and why?

Classic Traveller. So simple, yet it works surprisingly well. Every later attempt has tried to provide more detail, but suffers from it. Also heavily based on the SF I like. And Star Wars d6, I own about every book for it. Not a perfect system, especially for the arithmetically challenged, yet...

Emerald Spire Superdungeon: Mona, Baur, Mentzer, Jacobs, Greenwood, Rein•Hagen, Etc.

Nice to see Frank Mentzer on board. I'm not at all interested in 3.x these days, so the pathfinder megadungeon has no interest to me, but it would be awesome if Paizo produced a retro clone penned by Frank. Paizo production values and adventures but with retro rules would be amazing.

    [Trailer] Pacific Rim

Transformers (or maybe Robot Jox) meets Battleship meets Godzilla's lesser known distant cousins that he never talks to. Bland designs for both the mecha and kaiju, hot hollywood actors of the moment, and way too much fake looking CGI.

"So where do Zenythri come from?" "Ya see, when a human and a... hmmm..."

Modrons, maybe? Some of them are humanoid, and I think the top guy can take human form. (I have no idea, I've never even heard of Zenthri before)

    Thank you morrus!

I hope you consider keeping this current style as an option at least. I am one of those people who strongly prefers black text on a slightly off white background, so this is the most accessible ENWorld has ever been for me.

Combat vs knights in full plate

Big axes, flanged maces, either big, heavy swords like the Zweihander (though you'd still probably want to stab with it against armor) or big pointy ones like the Estoc The other interesting thing that you can do with a big sword is whack the guy in plate on the helmet with the hilt I saw a...

    Deuce Traveler's Appendix N Series

Yeah, pretty much the entire Paladin concept was taken from that book, from his powers to his role (serving as an agent of Law). While it was based on the Charlemagne stories, the D&D Paladin comes from it, not so much the legends.

Gygax Magazine? [UPDATE 3 - Electric Boogaloo]

A quick google search brings up the case of White Cloud toilet paper, a brand by Proctor & Gamble which was dropped (to try to push sales of their more expensive brand, Charmin), then some other company picked up the trademark and sold it to Walmart, which used it for their line of toilet paper.

Gygax Magazine? [UPDATE 3 - Electric Boogaloo]

From the blurb it really sounds like they will be supporting modern games, which personally, I have less than zero interest in. I hate to say it, but I think game magazines work better when they only focus on 1 (or maybe 2 games). White Dwarf/The Dragon was good when it focused on D&D and...

    Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption

A little less than 3 days and they need about 80,000. Going to be very close, so if you liked their past games and want to see them make another, please consider supporting them.

    Anyone know of a Fantasy/Horror book/short story?

Yeah, Lumley's Primal Land stories are Cthulhu-ish fantasy. You have a barbarian guy and a sorcerer named Teh Atht. I'm not sure they really horror though, more just weird fantasy. He's written some really good mythos horror stuff, but these are more swords & sorcery...

Playing with a new style [Update - switching to it on 12 Nov]

My eyes just can't take white text on a dark background. Any chance of getting a black on white style?

    Anyone know of a Fantasy/Horror book/short story?

Clark Ashton Smith http://www.eldritchdark.com/writings/short-stories/ He had 3 weird fantasy settings that were fantasy-horror basically: Zothique (in the far, far, future), Averoigne, sort of a medieval France, and Hyperborea, pre-history. Best are...

    Kickstarter Dungeon Crawler Kickstarter re-launch

As I said in the thread for their previous attempt, I just don't think these Minis are overly desirable. Better if they kept the 4 Pirates from this, the 3 from the first stretch goal (all but the pygmy, that's just tacky) and the Scourge guy. Those 8 would be pretty desirable.

Are you tired of all the self promotion and kickstarter threads?

I don't mind out and out promotion or a post about a press release, but what I hate are the stealth promotion threads that masquerade as discussion threads but are meant simply to pitch a product.

Disney buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion! More Star Wars movies coming!

The prequels just needed more polish. They had a lot of interesting bits (Yoda vs Count Doku for instance, Jango Fett), and even the storyline wasn't bad, I just think he had forgotten how to make movies and perhaps hewed too close to the source materials, the old serials. I also think people...

What If Your World Only Had 10 Monsters?

You sort of saw that in Conan. He'd pretty much either fight ape-men or snake based monsters. And I think a vampire.
