Another example of D&D in the mainstream

Further, I have to confess that my girlfriend hasn't read the books, nor seen the movies. Otherwise she's cool. :D

Another example of D&D in the mainstream

It's sad, but true, that I actually went to see the film with my Dungeon Master instead of my girlfriend. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to wait until the DVD comes out, so I can sit her through nine hours of cinematic goodness. :D

    I'm playing a what?

I'd suggest you look into the Rage Mage. It's official WotC material, and doesn't look too bad now that it's been converted into 3.5. The previous version had its separate spell progression table, severely hindering spellcasting. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20031116a&page=7

Now that Complete Warrior is out...

I will also be switching to D&D 3.5, but I will keep it to the Core Rulebooks. Personally, I don't need rules for miniature combat, and I can do full-well without the updated splatbooks. Besides, NiTessine will undoubtedly be bying all of the 3.5 splatbooks, and being a player in his campaign...

Let's describe some tragic and horrible Critical Failures

The very first time our group played the Middle Earth Roleplaying Game, we noticed that this system had a way of beng either very deadly or very easy on the player characters. The group was facing a few orcs, and the half-elven ranger snaps his bowstring, the elven mage fails at concentrating...

Let's describe some tragic and horrible Critical Failures

Think of the following recipe: Critical miss rules that give a chance of the character critically hitting himself. Vorpal weapons. Ouch. :D

The book you were all excited to get... and now gathering dust...

d20 Modern. Such a pity, I love the game, I love the rules, I love everything about it, but I just can't get enough time to run a game. Fortunately, NiTessine and I have been tossing around the idea of me running a one-shot game with our regular group, and then seeing how it'll turn out.

What gaming books are you hoping Santa will bring you?

Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed, and maybe even the Diamond Throne Campaign Setting. And maybe the D&D 3.5 Core Rulebooks. I don't know, I'm getting sick and tired of the basic D&D without any surprises, so I've looked into AU and liked what I've seen. It would be a nice break from D&D, and...

    Miniatures Handbook

Well, the Healer is obviously a girlfriend class. Your girlfriend will want to play one because then her character can stay out of the fights, healing the other characters. (especially your character if your playing) And the Healer gets a celestial unicorn. Chicks dig unicorns. It must be the...

    Shadow Chasers-ey campaign.

From what I've heard, the Ravenloft Fear/Fright/Sanity system is a lot lighter than the Call of Cthulhu system, which might just be what I'm looking for. One of the players to be in this campaign owns the Ravenloft 3e book, so I might be able to use the rules therein. Also, for magic-using...

    Shadow Chasers-ey campaign.

What is the Midnight spellcasting system like? How does it differ from the basic D&D system?

    Shadow Chasers-ey campaign.

I might be starting a campaign with a serious Shadow Chasers slant to it. Kinda like Buffy, but the characters are not teenaged kids. Lots of camp humour, weird creatures (mostly fiends and undead) and discreet magic. This is what I've got so far: Basic d20 Modern classes. All Advanced Classes...

No way! My enthusiasm is just flaring up, baby! Now, just to get a decent campaign started... :p

3.5 – Sentinels of Evermere [FULL]

I'll be dropping out. As great as it would be to play in a PbP game, I don't think I've got enough time and commitment for it. Have a great game, y'all!

3.5 – Sentinels of Evermere [FULL]

Well, since some have taken places for the Bard and Healer characters, I'll change my concept to a High Elf Wizard. I'll have him posted by tomorrow. :)

3.5 – Sentinels of Evermere [FULL]

Alright, that sounds reasonable. :) As for a character, I'm considering a high elf Bard or Cleric at the moment. What kind of a religious tradition do the elves of Evermere have? Do they worship the D&D gods, or do they have more of a druidic tradition? Good to be in. :)
