I'm going to break out of the mold and suggest Godlike. The system on handling powers is great, and the system itself is simple but great. In my opinion it's a great system for simulating the "normal humans with super-powers" campaign schtick. :)

Lissa Whiterock, a Gnome Illusionist/Rogue in a D&D 3e campaign that we haven't played in ages now. When playing Lissa I threw most of my common sense out of the window and just had fun. Performing practical jokes on the group, taunting enemies in battle... gee, I really liked the character...

Naw, this product's got nothing to do with the d20 System, or d20 Modern for that matter. As said, it's a grim and gritty game about violence and stuff. Well, it sure seems interesting to me, at least from reading the two reviews of the game. The melee-combat systems got me really interested...

Well, if you're going to play a Ranger/Wizard I'd suggest either Moon or Sun Elf for race... I'd probably choose Moon Elf, since the +2 to Dex helps both the Ranger and the Wizard. As for stats... well, you'll need a good Dexterity to start with, since your character probably won't be wearing a...

Well, Wizards make for more versatile spellcasters, since they can learn almost any spell that they stumble upon. Just my 2 cents.

Shouldn't be too difficult to adapt d20 Modern into d20 Victorian. You'll just have to lose some of the modern schticks, like cars and computers, etc.

I'd be interested in playing a main character, if that's still possible. As for a character concept, the average know-it-all would be up my league. Sort of a male version of Hermione, if that's possible. :)
