D&D 5E Us Building a "Fundamentally 5E" Setting From Scratch Together

If you want to make a fundamentally 5e setting, I think you have to take a close look at the existing mechanics. Every class and subclass should be part of the setting. Not only that, spells and features should be woven into the setting. Is there the ruin of a village destroyed by meteor swarm...

D&D (2024) Monster Manual Giants Video!

I guess you’re kinda late to the party, but we have Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants. It has awesome lore and cool stat blocks for giants in a book al about them. I guess the giants in the MM will see some changes too.

Watch this video for an actual deep dive into beasts.

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

Sounds like we cracked the reason for D&D's popularity! But honestly, I am really appreciating the insight we are getting to the inner workings of WotC as a business from 5e's start and 5e's later years.

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

Oof, that doesn’t sound great! Where can I find Roll20 sales rankings? I am curious!

D&D (2024) Fey Video Critique & Alternate Perspective

EDIT: My comment would probably steer this thread in the same direction as other threads. Good writeup of the commentary. I didn't enjoy the way they said things either, but it's marketing speak anyway.

Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Player's Handbook Is Already Getting Errata

No, and probably not for a while. Something tells me the might never release one.

D&D (2024) The Two Forgotten Realms Books Were Not Finalized At Their Announcement, Artificer & Species Could Still Be For It

I don’t really think about WotC books until after people had a chance to use them. Except for the new core books. I am looking forward to the MM! I don’t care for the Forgotten Realms, I never played in the setting.

D&D (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Stat Block Compilation

One result is intended, the other one is dissatisfying . I’d go for the first.

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Oh, I REALLY like this. Often in my games the party passes along all AC boosting items to the PC who has a high AC to get the most use out of it. Less stacking means overall defense increase means easier to balance encounters. I might use this straight away!

    D&D (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Ooh, another thing I’d like: A book where we switch it up: PC’s are evil, DM uses “good” NPC’s. The book would be filled with solid advice on making an “evil” party, villainous subclasses, rules for having minions, becoming a lich, etc. And for the DM a good guide on turning the story around...

    D&D (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

A feywild setting book in the style of Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft A book on aberrations (and oozes) in the style of Fizban’s.

D&D (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Stat Block Compilation

I hoped for more this week, but we didn’t even get anything after the last video. They have over 500, they keep saying! Give us some crumbs!

    D&D (2024) DMG 2024: The Planes

This new DMG is the first time I actually read through the information of all the planes. A lot of them just bother me, and feel like they are too close in theme to the others. Weirder still to me, is how they are all supposed to be where the souls of all creatures go, but people live in those...

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

I get where you are coming from, but tier 4 PC's have so many features and abilities to regain HP, gain temp HP, gain resistances, increace AC, make enemies roll at disadvantage. Having played quite a bit at high level, the average DPR a monster is calculated with, rarely ever makes contact with...

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Fighters are really hard to banish. The fighter in our test just used indomitable to succeed every time. After that it was already game over.

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

No-one was using the best tactic possible. The fighter didn’t use maneuvers or even weapon mastery for most of her turns

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Yeah that’s something I could have done, but that would greatly decrease it’s damage per round. Also one of them had an ioun stone of absorption. And it has word of recall, so I could have left any moment. Even better, I could have it submerged in the lava at the end of its turns. I decided to...
