Existing games that use VP/WP and Sneak Attack just have the damage from a Sneak Attack work the same as any other form of damage: first to VP, then to WP (with criticals going straight to WP). It may cause verisimlitude problems, but it's definately playable.

Natural 20s are automatic successes on attack rolls and saving throws in v3.0. This issue got clarified in the official errata documents. That player got hosed.
